Hi All,

I have a hughes SD-DVR40 running on version 6.2a not connected to a phone line. I have had 0 issues with it until today. Now after 10 minutes of viewing, the image starts skipping and the control responses are slow, then after 5 minutes of that, the system reboots. This happens in an endless cycle. I assumed it was the hard drive failing. However, I disconnected the satellite feed, and I can watch shows on my Now Playing List with no issues at all. Which leads me to believe it is not due to the hard drive. My wife called DirecTV and their solution was to have someone come out and fix the box and charge us $65. This doesn't sound right, so I'm looking to see if anyone else is having (or had) this problem and if there is any way to fix it.

Thanks!
DJ

It's most likely a hard drive issue. Check out the resources for replacing/upgrading your Tivo's hard drive here ....

Well, the problem has stopped (I didn't do anything). The only thing I can see that is different is the "Indexing Date". It changed right before the problem started, and then changed right before the problem went away. I apologize, but I'm kind of new to this, so I don't know what "Indexing" is. I'm likely going to buy a new hard drive in the near future anyway, but could anyone explain what the indexing function is?

Thanks!
