View Full Version : Are Channels 9456 and 300 the exact same HBOHD?

I just ordered HBO for the next two months for Sopranos/Entourage. I also just turned on my TV and it looks like the software has been updated. However, I notice that before, when I had HBO free for three months back in November, the HD feed was only on channel 9456. Now, there seems to be two channel 300s, but one is marked with the HD symbol (which apparently is new.) Are these the same, or is one HD on a different satellite? Before I set up any season passes, I'd want to make sure that I get the correct HBOHD.

Thanks!

P.S. Since this does look like new software, what's the best link to find out what is new? It seems as though my guide looks different, but I'm not sure what else has changed.

New software has additional mapping feature. The HBO HD channel is mapped down to the 300 location. You can go into the Local Channels screen and adjust what you would like to see where.

Channel 9456 is "mapped down" to 300 as part of the latest software. So yes, it is the same channel. Part of the Dish Pass settings will let you choose to record the HD channel or the SD channel. If you choose the HD one, will it use 9456 or 300 (HD) ?? I'm betting it will use 300 (HD).

This forum has dozens of threads talking about the features (and bugs) of the new software.
