I just contacted the YES Network via phone and the person that answered the phone informed me that the YES HD feed is supposed to be nationally. I've read on here that is only supposed to be for the NY DMA.
Has any 1 heard of YESHD being national or r they even planning on making it national HD channel?
Chan 622 is supposed to be a 24/7 feed for the HD but I've never seen it.
thanks in advance :)

Last I heard is that YESHD is expected to be available nationally (if you subscribe to a package which allows you to receive it ofcourse) once the new satellite is up and running sometime this Fall. For right now, YES HD is only available to those in the NY DMA.

YESHD (as are all the RSNs in HD) are only on spotbeams for the local markets in question. They will go national (most likely) with the new sats.
And it wouldn't matter for you anyway. Since you aren't in the YES home market you'll be blacked out of all games on YES anyway, just like you are on the SD version. Whatever you get on the SD version is what you would see on the HD version.

I just emailed a friend at the Yes Channel that's upper management and asked if YES HD is going to go nationionally?
His reply was that Yes Channel intends to make most, if not all Yankee games available in HD via MLB EI next season but they don't intend on carrying YES HD full time since it's distributed on a market specific spot beam satelite.
Well I understand that as YES HD will not be nationally. What's your take?

I'd tell ya I wouldnt mind that at all ... I mean the main thing of the YES network is the Yankees and u still gotta pay for the package so to me that would be wonderful if and when it happens.

I agree. The main thing I want is the Yankee games in HD. I don't really care about watching Mike and Mad Dog, the guy is usually picking his ear wax or doing something foul. And the Yankeeography shows are usually blacked out so I don't need YES HD 24/7. Just give me all the games in HD and I'll be happy.
On another thread there is mention about widening the area that the YESHD spotbeam is currently at. I'm in Western NY, so I don't know if this is technically possible or not.

Yesterday I talked with the hd resolution department and was told that some areas have had yes hd added, around the Albany area, but that may be it for awhile. I asked to have my zip code added, 06410. It's a long shot, but who knows!
Just give me all the games in HD and I'll be happy.
Amen to that.
And I'm a mere 84 miles from Albany. I want it if they get it!!

You may well eventually, but I think it will be awhile since you don't get YES in sd without the Sportspack or EI.

I would assume being in New Orleans that you have Extra Innings?
If so then when YES HD goes national then you'll get whatever you get now on the SD version.

Thanks every 1 :)
You've all given me hope and I won't have to make my wife move back to NY lol
One thing that I am finding annoying about YES HD is that it is listed second in the program guide. So when I enter 6-2-2 on my remote it always goes directly to the SD feed, and I have to push the channel up button to get to the HD feed. I removed the SD channel from my favorites but that does not solve the problem. Is there any way around this?

Until D* changes the program guide to list the HD version of YES first, the answer for now is unfortunately no...

I actually had a hour conversation with a Tier 3 HD resolution CSR this afternoon on this very topic. After taking him through the whole thing, he emailed engineering while I was on the phone and said he would follow up to get it corrected - he said by the end of the month most likely.
I showed him how it was impossible to toggle between YES-HD and SNY-HD.

Could you bring up the guide or use the blue button mini-guide, choose Yes-HD, then use the guide to bring up SNY-HD then just use the previous button to switch between the two?

BINGO
Good one - works fine. Stumped me, stumped everyone there! KUDOS!
But they are going to fix it shortly they say.

Pardon me whilst I hold my breath... :sure:

Glad it worked for you. I don't think I ever type in the number of a station unless it's the weather channel or something. I guess I got into the habit of using the guide about 10 years ago and it just has stuck with me. So I don't see "weirdness" like this.
And yea, I won't hold my breath on it being fixed either. Getting it "fixed" assumes DirecTV didn't do it the way it is now on purpose.
