My brother in law wants to move from Time Warner to D*. We called today and the best they would do was an HR20 and 2 H20's for $400 installed. The lady wouldn't budge. Does anyone have any suggestions on what deals are out there or what they've received when the signed up recently?
Thanks,
Deuce
Go to their web site and see what they have there.

I did that and it was the same thing, $499 upfront with a $100 online rebate.

That's probably after a $100 rebate and was pretty much right on the dot as this former Time Warner Customer as of last month. Time will tell, but the up front expense was worth it.

IMHO, considering that the offer is for three HD boxes, not bad. He can always try again to see if they offer something better. Keep in mind that he will have a two year commitment.

just so you know------if you order online its not 499 up front because the rebate is instant----its applied when you order. so you are only paying $399 up front.----and i doubt that you will get it any cheaper---that is the price every one is paying right now

The deals change but these days it seems to be $100 off the list price (in any combination) but no additional discounts for six months. Maybe some program credits can be obtained in addition to that. Several months ago one might have done better and maybe in the future there will be additional deals. The HR20, in particular, is in short supply.

Hi,
Remember, he can always order regular receivers instead of the H20's and then upgrade them one-by-one sometime in the future.

They want an HD DVR.... DVR4U2 is a SD DVR.
Have him call the following retailers and see what kind of a deal they can give him.
Sometimes they will do a free upgrade to a HD receiver. These are deals for new customers.
