Hello,
Just thought I would report that I called Directv to order a new DVR and I asked when my HD locals would be available in Oklahoma City,
She checked and said as of today (4/18) both ABC (KOCO) and FOX (KOKH) were active and the others would be forthcoming.
I didnt believe her but I went to Directv website and sure enough after typing in zip code these 2 show available.
Still not believing it :) I went to my dad's house as he has the mpeg4 system and sure enough they are there.
Woohoo, I am happy because I could never pull in ABC with my antenna!
Jst thought I would let you know!

Hot damn...i'll check when I get home. Do you have to have the 5LNB dish for this or just an HR2-700.

5LNB dish is needed to view the two new orbital slots, 99 and 103 I believe.

Ah..thanks for the heads up. I'll let my in laws in Enid know..they'll be very happy campers..me, I'll stick with the OTA HD...it works excellent.
What's interesting is that FOX & ABC aren't offered by Cox in HD. Talk about a marketing angle.
Western Oklahoma got cut off, supposed to be the spot beam:
Hollis no
Mangum no
Elk City no
Carter no
Woodward no
Clinton yes
Enid yes
Blackwell yes
Seminole yes

It is very possible, that the signal Authorization packets, may not have made it around through the entire "subscriber" base yet.
So give it at least 24 hours, and depending on how you are checking (make sure you looking at All Channels, not a favorite list)... before slicing and dicing the DMA brakedown.

I stand corrected. I had to add 4 and 9 back to my custom guide but they are still only SD.

We are very close to an agreement. It should happen by next week.

I wonder if that goes for the there sister station channel 6 here in Tulsa. Management has no idea what's going on.
I'll drop Griffin a note.

If Channel 4 is the NBC station, it is owned by the New York Times company. I think that DirecTV has an agreement with the station, so I am more inclined to believe this is a technical problem.

If I am not mistaken doesn't the same parent company own the NBC station in Tulsa,OK? D* has NBC in HD there. So why wouldn't there be a blanket type agreement for the OKC NBC affiliate.

No, KJRH is a Scripps Howard station. With Scripps-Howard also owning HGTV, GAC and Food TV, they already have a very good relationship with D*.
About Western Oklahoma Directv reception of Oklahoma City HD channels, I emailed D :
Details: I am in the Oklahoma City DMA and I have noticed you have 2 HD channels working now. However when I key in my zip 73550 on your website local channel search it shows no HD available as is the case with many towns in western oklahoma. Is this really the case or are these channels available in Western Oklahoma with the correct equipment?
Their answer:
Thanks for writing. I would be happy to answer your question. You are correct about not having any HD locals in your area. It does not matter what type of equipment you have, we are not able to broadcast HD locals in your area at this present time.
If you have any other questions, please call (800) 531-5000 24 hours every day and a representative will be happy to assist you.
Once again I would like to thank you for writing.
Sincerely,
Chris F.

I really believe that harmon, jackson, kiowa are all in Lawton/witcha falls dma and here is greer we are the first in the OKC dma as for southwest OK goes. Even though you get Oklahoma city along with Lawton/Witcha falls you are still in the the Lawton Dma....Sorry but I am pretty sure that is correct..you could always "move" to greer county and get okc HD but that will be your only choice as you cant even get hd via antenna (ota)

Nope, crappy low power OKC repeaters a few miles outside of Hollis = OKC DMA.

Anyway, on D's website try some western oklahoma zipcodes, like woodward, elk city, sayre ect.
edited to add, we do NOT get the Lawton/wichita falls channels, I have tried very hard to get them (through dishnetwork) added through significantly viewed channels to no avail. The lawsuit that E lost prohibited them from carrying the channels.

Ok then just trying to help ya...but I think that if you call lawton they will tell you the same think it is just retransmitted down there but you are in the lawton dma,I think that it was changed agian about a year ago agian??but I might be wrong if not you are getting messed around and not sure what you can do about it???hope you can get it worked out though...but it does look that way but the map that you have posted maybe you still might have to "move"up to greer to get direct to give them to you but it does look like there system is at fault....

kwtv (9) CBS should be on some time maybe this week maybe next ???Mr. Griffin states in several email to people that had written in that a agreement should be in place this week....but Kfor has not responded to any emails and they are in the process of being sold from The New York Times to a new company called Local LLC. so who know with that??

KOCO 5 (ABC) is already up...You're thinking of KWTV 9 (CBS)...anyway I've also heard within 2 weeks they'll be up. KFOR 4 (NBC)...WHO KNOWS? Good luck seeing any primetime HD programming from them anyway. When there's strong storms 90 miles away and not even in the viewing area they have the warning box up and the bars on the side. Have they not figured out how to lay that over the HD signal. I'm curious if that happens in other markets like Denver or Dallas?

any news on KFOR?
I'm waiting to install my 5LNB until they are all up....until then I'll stick with OTA.
Any comparisons on SAT vs OTA for the OKC market?

Any comparisons on SAT vs OTA for the OKC market?Don't get rid of your OTA, no matter what. You'd lose PBS, all the subchannels (like WeatherPlus), and the independents.

If you get all of them via OTA then just stick with that. You get all the sub channels that way. KOCO weather radar is nice to have on 5-2

Losing sub channels aside, any input on the quality difference in OTA vs mpeg4 for the okc channels?
