I have my HR20 and XBox 360 both connected through a single Buffalo 802.11g 4-port ethernet bridge. Both devices pull IPs, both report they're connected to the net. The 360 lets me connect to XBox Live just fine. Both WMP11 and TVersity see the 360 and can play media to it with no problems. Both of them flatly refuse to see the HR20 and the HR20 does not recognize either of them. Anyone have an suggestions for troubleshooting?

Just a swag, but check your router bridge uPnP settings. If you really dont need it for something else turn it off.

If it's a router or ethernet bridge issue, why would media sharing work on the XBox360? This has really got me perplexed.

What firmware version are you using for the Buffalo? If it's 2.50 then you won't get connected. You need 2.53.

Hmm, that's a good question. I wish I'd gotten your post earlier today - I was home sick all day and had nothing better to do. :) I'll check that tomorrow afternoon after work and update if necessary. Thanks for the tip.

If you don't have it send me a PM and I'll send it to you. Buffalo has pulled it from their website - stated they are working on another revision.

Hello!
I also need the 2.53 firmware, went to their FTP site but as you mentioned,t hey pulled it.
If you would not mind sending it to me, that would be great!!

Thanks!
P.S. Unless you think I should just wait for their next version. Most likely wont setup the buffalo with the HR20 for a week or so.

I contacted Buffalo a few weeks ago and got a reply that a new beta version would be on the ftp site soon. So far nothing. Could somebody supply me with a copy of a version which works with the HR20?

Another route for wireless networking is to purchase a relatively cheap Linksys WRT54G/GS router and flash it with a third party firmware (search thibor for the firmware). I am using 2 of them and they work great. Just a warning, there are numerous revisions of this router and not all of them can be flashed with the 3rd party firmware, do a little research before your purchase. You can get these routers at all your major retailers including the big W-mart. Just a helpful money saving tidbit. Who knows, you may just have one of these lying around...

Would you recommend that a novice/newbie to networking try this?
