I ordered the HR20-750 a little over two weeks ago.

DirecTV scheduled an install for this Saturday 4/21.
I have been busy, but I didn't remember receiving a call to confirm the install, so I called DirecTV today to check it out.

They confirmed that I had ordered the system, and my credit card was authorized, but no installation was scheduled. The CSR did a "manual" install request and said I would get a call to schedule an install "within 72 hours".....

This Saturday was the ONLY available time until May 30th when I ordered 2 weeks ago! Now I have to wait up to 3 days before I can even make another appointment.

Is this normal?

This is the first time I've had to have an installer come out, I have done all of my own installs, and more than 20 others for friends, family, and friends-family... etc...
DirecTV will not send out the equipment to the user, and requires "professional" installation of the 5LNB dish.

Has anyone installed their own 5LNB setup?

Am I going to have to have an installer setup a new dish when I "move" to my vacation home?

Yes, but be warned that it is not as simple to setup as the 3LNB dish. If you're feeling adventurous, here's a link for you to buy one:

I ordered my on December 23rd...first available install date was March 24th. They were having problems getting HR20's..... It all depends on where you live.

gNOMEintheRedHat ,
I like to do my own installs too,
when DTV told me that ,
I bought my stuff off ebay, installed it my self and just called them up to have it activated,
when you read about all the half-ass installer problems here( i'm kinda picky)
i figured if i couldn't find the bird ,at least the dish would be mounted and the cables ran THE WAY I WANT IT.
I didn't save much money off ebay,
and i read about peeps getting bad IRDs fron Dtv, so its a crap shoot which ever way you go,

FWIW, it is the HR20-700 (not 750)

For the install date, did you try to go into your account on the internet and change the date? This is what I did. :)

Cheers,
John

I did, but then again i work or an HSP. But i am not certified for HD. It is a little work and you need to make sure it is done right since if it comes loose just one bit you're going to loose the MPEG4 feeds.

No matter who ends up doing your install make sure that monopoles are used

What is the 750? Are there upgrades?

I hope you don't mind, I corrected the title to prevent confusion. Even tho I do have a Hr20-750 (Yes, I opened one of mine and put the larger hard drive in.)

Cheers,
Tom
