I want to check hard drive space

Hi all,

I've searched the forums and of course DirecTV's FAQs, and I can't find this info anywhere.

Is there a way to check the space remaining / used on the hard drive ?? I'd sure like to be more aware when I've jammed the drive with too many episodes of Enterprise, Stargate, Get out and Planet Earth.

I know the receiver will warn me when it thinks I'm setting up too many recordings, but I'd like to be able to pull up the info myself.

No the Tivo based DVR's have no way to check the space remaining the way the D* DVR's do. This is a much requested feature that TIVO users have longed for but one TIVO has never implimented.

There is no meter on the DTiVo's... So there is no easy way.

One teqnique is to estimate it based on your volume of SUGGESTED recordings. Suggested recordings use up your "free space".

So if you are starting to see less and less suggested recordings, your hard drive is starting to fill.

If you see a lot, and none of your selected recorded programs are being deleted, then you have a good amount of free space.

The word on the street is that if you hack your DirecTivo, you can get this information... (I haven't hacked mine yet though).

That is a tivo based unit. Mavrick said only on D*'s own DVR's, whcihc means the HR20, and the R15, the HR10 is Tivo based, so no disk space meter.
