Has anyone heard any new updates on KOMO in HD on D*? Heck, I'd even take a good rumor! :)

Nope, nothing. My KOMO contacts insist that Fisher Broadcasting wrapped up negotiations with DirecTV back in December 2006. DirecTV remains quiet. Hopefully it's just a matter of installing the required uplink equipment and MPEG4 encoders, but it's taking a long time.

Hey considering your in my area. I am just wondering if you were able to get channel95HD which had Atlanta/Mets yesterday and the hockey game last night..Anaheim and Minnesota.
I kept getting an error that the channel wasn't purchased.
I can't see any reason for this. Blackout rules wouldn't apply.
Thanks

I'm in Seattle and got both of those games on 95...with the M's in HD on 96 too. Don't know what to tell you on your issue.

Hmmm I dunno either. I will keep on watch on it. I did get the Seattle game though on 96.
Weird.

I wonder if some of the games on 95 require an Extra Innings subscription.
I agree about KOMO. It's taking far too long (and I can't get a decent signal OTA).
My KOMO contacts insist that Fisher Broadcasting wrapped up negotiations with DirecTV back in December 2006.Given that DirecTV isn't carrying KATU either, I suspect that your contacts are misinformed.

Who knows. They acted pretty well-informed. But maybe something broke down in "dotting the i's and crossing the t's".

I'm beginning to think that the NAB is representing the interests of half a dozen media conglomerates instead of local broadcast stations.

You also need superfan to get the hd games…but I do have superfan and was getting the same message here in California, so I called D* about it. After about 10 minutes on the phone with a CSR the channel actually came on! The CSR apologized, saying the problem was on their end.
I assume they made the same error on your account.

Hmm but I should be getting this channel correct? Do they have a switch to turn on? why wouldn't it be automatic?
I don't have the superfan but have had other HD games on that channel I believe?
OMG all these channels and rules etc are soooo confusing for a canadianite. LOL

Although Fisher Communications is actually one of the smaller broadcast owners in the nation. So you would think it would be easier for them to reach an agreement with DirecTV. Again, we don't really know the true story, and maybe never will.

Same for KOMO in Seattle.

Last year there was no superfan, so if you had EI, you got HD games on channel 95. This year you need superfan to get MLB EI HD, if you don't have superfan, you should not be receiving those games.
If you have been getting games on ch 95 this year, I would guess that D* has been making a mistake in your favor since the beginning of the season. Or maybe they were giving them to you as part of an extended preview...thinking that you would buy superfan after they took them away.
But from what I know, if you don't have superfan you will not receive any games in hd on ch. 95, 730, or 731

Is there anyone, EARL?, that has a contact at D* that can get us an update? Like Bob, my OTA for KOMO is spotty, so I'm watching Lost in SD.

You may be able to get an answer after an agreement is reached.

I agree, but supposedly, an agreement was reached sometime ago. I've heard that now from several different sources. IF that's true, it would be interesting to know what the hold-up is.

My DirecTV contacts aren't talking. And my KOMO contacts say they've finalized negotiations. That's all I know.
There are a variety of factors that could be causing the delay beyond contract completion. DirecTV is in the process of buying and installing new HD uplink equipment, upgrading it's uplink facilities, etc. Backhaul capacity, as well as normal transmission capacity, could be factors. I guess most/all of these would be in DirecTV's court as opposed to KOMO or Fischer Broadcasting, so KOMO could well be providing correct information. Problem is there is no way for us to know beyond the information we have, which as litzdog911 indicated, is not forthcoming at this time.
I'm fortunate in that I get a great OTA signal from all of the Seattle/Tacoma locals (outdoor antenna), so it is a minor issue for me as opposed to others who do not get a good OTA signal.

Here's an update (more of a clarification of position, in line with Harsh's last comment): http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=667728&page=3&pp=30. See post #89.

Channel 4. It must have just started up--there is no guide data yet.

Ooops didn't have that on my channel list :p does this mean HD version now? Sorry new to all this stuff.
And also while sorta on topic, always wondered what the SE4, 5 etc mean.
Thanks

4 KOMO = HD
4 SE4 = SD
4-1 KOMODT = OTA HD
When I discovered it was up they were broadcasting news in 16:9, but there won't be any more HD programming until the 5PM news.
I tried resetting the receiver to force a guide update, but there is still no data for the HD version of the channel.

Cool find, I hope it stays. :p
And why SE lol and why not SD4, what exactly does SE stand for?

SEattle. Directv uses a two-letter designation for each area's SD locals.

Of course. I suspect that if it had gone up on a weekday the guide data would be there by now (IIRC it was up quickly for KCPQ).

Hmm strange but KOMO is ABC correct? On the guide it shows NBC symbol beside the actualy Channel 4 :sure:
So all 4 networks now right? ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX.

I don't see any logos in the guide, but in the edit area of favorites it shows NBC. They obviously have a bit more work to do.
Yes, the four major networks are now carried in HD. CW and MyNetwork are not (some areas have one of them).

Hmm I think maybe I didn't explain it properly-sorry.
I meant at the top, I guess you call it the "title bar"? It shows NBC logo then shows KOMO and then of course on bottom right shows ABC logo. :)

Oh, the bar that comes up with info or channel changes. I see the NBC logo but don't recall it being there this morning (??)
Yay! It's about dang time!
