View Full Version : War of the Worlds HBO HD PQ?
First, I understand this is not a good movie.
I have flipped by this movie on the HBO HD (509) several times and the picture quality is just downright awful. It's very, very grainy.
I'm far from a picture quality snob.,..this is just plain bad.
Anyone know why this might be?

I have always been pleased with the quality of HD on HBO, but I saw that movie a couple of weeks back and it was just plain bad. I couple of scenes in brighter light were better, but mostly grainy. Filming technique maybe?

I noticed this a while back as well. I just figured it was the way the movie was intentionally filmed. But I just thought it looked like crap.

It was FILMED that way!!! Gritty, dirty, muted colors for effect. It looked that way in the theater! And it is a good monster movie--a hell of a lot better than the original which I still love!

+1.
Lots of moviemakers manipulate color, texture, etc. for effect.
Those making the early posts must not watch many newer movies.
Critics didn't think much of the movie, but I liked it a whole lot.
