Hi all,

As of about three days ago my hr20-700 can't get a satellite lock... we'd had some winds so at first I assumed the dish got bumped out of alignment. However, when I go to my hr10-250 in the other room I am getting 98% signal strength on the same transponders I am getting 0 on the hr20-700... is this something others have seen happen before?

On a side note... WHY can't the box be USABLE if it doesn't have the guide data. I tried restarting it and now I can't get to the playlist to watch already recorded content while I am waiting for the D*tv people to show up tomorrow.

*edit*
err, i should have said that the box locks up when trying to play content already recorded

Thanks

Heh, the tech just showed up (a day early) and he's looking at it now... he did say that it's not compatible to have a hr10-250 on the same dish as an hr20-700... because they use different power frequencies... HUH? He's going to try to switch out the lnb's, but i have the first gen HD dish (AT-9 I think).

Now he's back and the DVR is indeed dead and says they will have to order a new one for me. He's saying that the power thing is what fried the dvr. The thing is the hr10-250 wasn't hooked up until AFTER the hr20 stopped working (I had disconnected it in the bedroom and not gotten around to hooking it back up)

Is this just a case of the early hr20-700 going bad or is there some truth to the tivo / directv dvr incompatibility?

Thanks

The HR10-250 has nothing to do with it at all. A bunch of members on here have HR10-250's hooked up with their HR20's.

Don't buy that. I have an HR10-250 and three HR20s in use. At one time I had three HR10-250s and one HR20 in use.
