I was wondering if there was a way of running dish and expressview on the same equipment, simultaneously.

What would it take to set that up? I have 110.119/148 setup with dish500 and dish300 setup.

I need it for sportsnet, which the Canadians know carry the hockey games.

Please advise.

Thankyou

Dishnetwork and Expressvu have different unit ID ranges for Echostar equipment. Neither will sub the other's unit ids.

As for the dish, Expressvu will be moving to Dish 500 setup in 2003 for 91 + 82 reception.

You can purchase a 5 lnb dish but that would be much more expensive than separate dishes for each service.

If you are primarily looking for Canadian sports services; Star Choice is a much better choice for you. The PQ, on the TSN/Sportnets/Score, is far superior to PQ on any other pizza dish because SC uses the first generation signals like 4DTV. There are only 4 or 5 signals/transponders as opposed to 8 to 14 on DBS services. Hockey PQ sucks on the Expressvu Sportsnet channels due to overcompression.

In addition the equipment is a little cheaper + you get a quad LNBF/dual satellite elliptical dish as part of the starter system. Checkout www.kusat.com or www.virtualhelpelectronics.com

You can view FTA ExpressVu channels (198 and 199) on a DISH
receiver, and (most likely) FTA DISH channels (free previews,
barkers, shopping, Angel One, part-time TV Japan) on an
ExpressVu receiver.

I was watching FTA news programs on ExpressVu,
using a DISH receiver, for about a year.

ExpressVu so far authorizes only current subscribers
for their free previews. They did change CNN over
to FTA for a while, for coverage of 9/11.

DISH has occasionally aired "extra" locals FTA on
their east and west "wing" satellites.

Of course, you could use any capable FTA receiver as well.
