I was in the middle of watching the recording of Heroes (it was 45 min in and I was around the 30 min mark) and suddenly the screen froze and became nonresponsive...so I had to do my first RBR :(...and when I came back it was interesting in that even though it had recorded to the 45 min mark, I could only go up to the point where I had been watching and then the box popped up asking me if I wanted to delete...24 was recorded up until the point I did the RBR so I guess I should have waited until the shows were over to reboot...interestingly, the few issues I have had with this box is with OTA channel 11-1 which is my only VHF channel...I know it's not low VHF though so it's probably a coincidence...

My first cussing out at my HR-20 occurred tonight...it makes me nervous of what's to come...

Same deal for me last night.... Wife was watching Dancing with the weirdos, which recording Hero's... the box became unresponsive... however the channel I was on continued to play... so no using last to check the score of the baseball game during commercials... I waited till 10pm to RBR so Hero's was off... havent checked to see if I got Hero's or not last night... I will check when I get home, but I assume its there since the light did come on and go off at the correct times...

Just and FYI that Heroes is available for free on the NBC website so you can catch the last 15 minutes. 24, not sure, might be on iTunes.

24 is available at MySpace. (Just Google Fox on Demand to get the URL).

All the more reason to have VOD. Even tho these shows may be available elsewhere (Heroes plays on SciFi), it's still not HD and that's what we like!

Premium channels have multiple time slots for first run episodes - but if you miss a network first run for any reason, you're screwed.

Only problem I had with Heroes was that the HR20 had it listed as 1:01 long, so I missed the last bit of the ending, and the previews.

The HR10 upstairs had it listed as 1:02 and got it all.

One interesting note. I set up my HR20 to record it last week and my wife must've hit record while she was watching it live. Incidentally, i noticed there are now 2 copies of it, and one is 1:01 and the other is 1:02 minutes long.

Hmmm.... are they both of the MPEG-4 versions?

It is possible that the end time was updated... but HR20 has a bug in it (on version 0x145), that may not update the record time

It is currently fixed on the CE version (and probably why mine record 1:02)

It recorded 1:02 for me.

They must be, the only way we can catch NBC in HD is over D*. I don't have an OTA antenna hooked up at the moment. (I'm assuming that's correct, that it's MPEG-4 if it's an HD local over the satellite. Is this right?)

I setup this recording before the new software came in over the weekend. I definitely have the new software, as I have a one button push guide now. :D

You must have an HR20-100 then... not sure if it was fixed in it's latest release or not (don't think it was).

Hmm.... it is possible that it could record twice on an MPEG-4... considering it may have been seeing it as different length.

I'll have to try that on my system, to see if I can duplicate it.

So both recorded episodes where HD versions?

Mine picked it up for 1:02 using the CE 14F also. I was pleasantly surprised.

Yep...both versions HD on the same channel. I haven't watched the whole episode yet, but I'll confirm what it actually recorded once I've watched it.

Yes, I have HR20-100B.

Correction.

I watched them last night and what happened was my wife was watching it and she noticed it stopped recording before the end. It only recored 1:01. She then hit the record button to try and get it to keep recording. What resulted was 2 entries in the list, one was 1:01 and the other was 1:02.

The 1:01 recording was the entire episode, but stopped before the very end and showed no credits. The 1:02 recording, although appeared to be the entire recording, was only the final minute. It left off where the original recording stopped and recorded the very end and the credits with scenes from next week.

I lost 24 also. First time that has happened. It showed that it recorded 1:2 hrs., but when I went to watch it, it only played for a few minutes and then asked if I wanted to save or delete. Whats up? Watched all episodes up to last monday.

NBC said that Heroes would end at 10:01 in the guide data (both Tivo and HR20). It didn't, it went over at least 30 seconds as usual.

ALWAYS pad Heroes at the end. I learned that the week NBC said it would end at 10:03, I had a minute pad and it *still* went over past my *padded* time by at least a minute (i.e. the show actually ran until nearly 10:05.

Ever since then I pad 5 minutes at the end of Heroes just to be safe.

This must be some weird local affiliates thing, because I never pad Heroes, and I have only missed about 30 seconds once, back before their hiatus. (I haven't checked this week's yet, only had time to watch 24 so far...)

I checked other receiver and I had 24 as series link. That receiver recorded perfectly while other did not. Wondering why 1 did and other didn't!

I missed the very end and the previews as well. (San Diego NBC HD - KSND 39)
Luckily the buffer was on NBC and rewound to catch the end and previews.
