I searched the forums, because I know I have seen this problem posted and answered many times, but the search function comes up with nothing related.

I am trying to install a replacement Samsung 80 gig stb. It's replacing a Hughes sd-dvr40. I didn't want another R-15.

When it gets to "press select to begin guided setup" that's it, no amount of button pushing or pulling the plug helps. I just pulled the cables out of the sd-dvr 40 and re-inserted them in the samsung. I tried reversing sat1 and sat 2 thinking I might have got them mixed up, but that was no go.
Hooked up to Zinwell W68 along with an R15 and a HR20 and a slimline dish.
Before I make an agonizing call to direct tv's excruciating voice recognition system, can anyone help me?? Thank you.:eek2:

P.S. the only thing wrong with the SD-DVR40 is that the modem won't handshake

Did you install the required software on the samsung? You do know that the unit boots off of the hard drive so the correct software for the unit have has to be installed on the hard drive.

????? Are you talking about the firmware that's supposed to be pre-installed??? I never had a Dtivo that came with separate software. The firmware is usually updated during startup or shortly thereafter. I don't know any other way. The R15 and the HR20 can be forced, but unless you are referring to the firmware that is supposed to be on the HD already, I have no idea what you're talking about.
