View Full Version : 4/30 Cards/Brewers HD - NO SHOW
Listed in the guide on 730. All I get is a black screen. SD game is available.
So..call DirecTV
CSR: How can I help you?
ME: Game is not coming in on both of my receivers. I have a Tivo and an HR20.
CSR: Press the red button on your receiver and the game will come in.
ME: My Tivo doesn't have a red button and if the game is not on either reciever, resetting one won't fix a thing.
CSR: Oh.. I see... (CLICK)
Call 2
Explain that I've been hung up on once. CSR doesn't say a word, but I hear a recording which tells me I've been transferred.
Advanced help apologizes profusely, checks the schedule, then finds that the game is available on channel 73.
1) Fix the guide
2) Give the first level CSRs the same training as Advanced Tech. When a customer tells you that there is a problem on TWO different model recievers, don't let your first step be reset the receiver.
most likely due to its being broadcast on channel 73 ESPN2 HD, i have EI also and 730 is blank also

SF/COL supposed to be on 730 right now according to my guide. Just a black screen. They really need to get their stuff together.

yeah, was wondering what was up with that. NBA TV is still on 94 too, supposed to be on that channel as well.
This is really pissing me off. Charge the extra fee then screw the sub. On top of the guide "issues" the interactive features are flakey at best. Superfan my a$$.

not sure if a reset would work. I'm too lazy to go try it. getting ready for bed anyways.
According to the CSR---The Giants and Rockies cancelled the HD feed. Yeah RIGHT!

Not enough HD trucks. They said during the broadcast that because of a Sharks playoff game, the HD truck was covering that game, and so the Rockies-Giants game isn't in HD. Lame, but not DirecTV's fault.
The Rockies had the HD trucks. DirecTV has never carried an HD game from FSN Bay Area. Additonally, this game was not in the guide yesterday. The Shark's game was known about much earlier than today. Why was the game added to the guide if it wasn't going to be broadcast?
I know it's an old argument, but there are TONS of games available for East Coast (especially Yankees/Mets). They say they'll broadcast "all available" HD games next year. Are they going to secure more games next year because of bandwidth or because of agreements with MLB.

Bandwidth.
They are carrying most of the HD RSNs on spot beams now. Next year they can go CONUS with them and the feeds will be available for EI across the country.
I don't believe bandwidth is the issue. There are many games on Fox Prime Ticket (Dodgers) and FSN Bay Area that are in HD, are not broadcast, and there is no other HD programming on 94,95,730 or 731. The bandwidth is there, the games are there, but they aren't being delivered. This season, I have yet to see a game from Prime Ticket, yet those games were on last year.
