So my buddy's brother finally made the call to switch from Time Warner to D*. Here's what he got when he called TWC to cancel:

He told TWC he wanted programming like the NFL Network, the Big Ten Network, & he was thinking about getting NFLST. The guy at TWC told him the NFL Network isn’t all that good, you only miss few NFL games a season without NFLST, & NFLST is over $500 a season. He also didn’t have any info if they plan to carry the Big Ten Network. :nono2:

And people here complain about the ethics of the CSR's at D*?????? :eek2:

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. Some of us love the NFL and love having the channel.

I love the NFL I am a huge Jets fan HUGE I dont know something about the channel just bothers me. I like ESPN's coverage better

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing you like ESPN more due to the east coast bias on that channel. They LOVE the NYC area teams on ESPN and they don't bother to hide it. We Cowboys fans tend to be not so pleased with the blatant Giants bias.

Ditto that. The local cable company around here doesn't carry the NFL Network either.

$500 for NFLST? Gee I must be getting a bargain.

As for the NFL Channel, if they aren't showing a game I care about why bother. I can't stand Bryant Gumbel and if I had to watch a game on NFLNetwork, I would turn the sound off.

Yeah the NFL channel announcers suck balls, I turn on the radio and listen to someone else while I watch the game, DTV was good about getting it on the HD channel for regular season games, and hopefully it will be full time HD by this fall with the new sats, assuming they don't blow up upon launch. If you are an NFL junkie, DTV is the way to go.

They haven't had a big matchup yet, and can't take it seriously with Bryant Gumbel. Could anyone be more out of place? But hey, it's MORE football, it didn't replace anything, and you get it in HD.

It seems though like the NFL network has too many repeats of programming. There is so much potential for this channel, but it is still sort of in its infancy.

Well DirecTV retention has been telling me for the past year and three months they carry my locals in HD, when they just became available last month (not CBS HD or PBS HD though), they have InHD sometimes, other times I’ve been told InHD is the same channel as HDNet. I’ve also been told there’s a good chance of me getting waivers for HD locals, when there’s not.

While I wouldn’t mind getting the NFL Network, it’s not on my must have list and I don’t miss it at all. I’d rather have Military History Channel or Golf/Versus HD. I don't understand why the NFL just doesn't agree to have the channel in the Sports Tier, the NBA has no problem with it.

Try to remember back when ESPN got its start. An all sports network??? They had to broadcast highschool badmitten competitions to fill air time. The NFL channel is still trying to figure out what it wants to be. For me, I like NFL total access but during the off season, there just isn't much to report about.

A agree that listening to Bryant Gumbel call a game is painful. NFL Network will get better. Gumbel won't.
