View Full Version : Another minor usability quirk

Partially I'm just interested in how many people thought this was good design, hence the poll.
I was deleting a bunch of stuff last night with mark and delete. For those not familiar, it shows your list of recorded shows with checkboxes next to them. You can navigate the list and check off the things you want deleted. Then you can trash them all at once.
Well, when you check (or uncheck) a show the cursor moves on to the next one, as expected. However, I missed one, and when I went back up to check it, I was surprised (and annoyed) to find that the R15 started going the other way (so that after checking or unchecking a show, the cursor moved to the previous one).
So, what do you think? Good or bad. Try playing with it before voting, if possible, to get a feel for it.

I have gotten used to it..
And have used it once or twice in the UP fashion..
If it stays... it stays...
If it goes... it goes...
I voted that I liked it... simply because it is an option to use... since "older" episodes are at the bottom of the sort list... so I can go from bottom up to the last date I want to keep...

Since I had never experience with it doing anything else, I guess I just learned to use it how it is.

When in MyPlaylist... Hit Menu.
One option is for Mark and Delete

The same thing happens when I setup my custom list.

Thanks. I couldn't think of a comparison for the "WWTD" scenario (since TiVo doesn't have mark and delete), but that's it: favorites and channels I receive. FWIW, TiVo did it the right way.

I wish we would get this added to the ToDo list.......

I vote for it because it does make sense if you are at the bottom of the list. Granted it doesn't work as one would initially expect it to, but I like it...

Hmm, so you understand what usability means, then. There goes that theory. :D

By the way, anyone with an HR20 care to post how it handles this? Maybe driving on the wrong side of the road has gotten those NDS folks confused. :D

I would think it's the same on the HR20 (don't have one, so I'm not sure). I know my D10-200s work the same way when setting up the custom channel list.
I like it on the mark and delete for the reason Earl said. However, it's a pain when setting up a custom list because I tend to miss adding a channel here and there. I end up with it going in so many different directions that I can't figure out what I am wanting to do.
