Directv has started a new marketing campaign geared to cable subscribers:

Sounds like a little of cable's own medicine.

Yeah, Time Warner cable here runs ads with the looney tunes characters. The funniest one I saw was Daffy trying to sell Bugs a satellite dish, and he gets struck by lightning.

LOL. I just hope D*'s ads are as funny.

What channels are they running on, because I only see DirecTV ads with the Guy and His son, that's kinda old!

I saw the cable guy add too. Very funny.

The installer is there telling him what hes going to get with DirecTV, the customer is all nervous, and says "Can you put it in the back yard" The installer say no problem. Then the customer says "can you make sure no one can see it from the road"

The DirecTV installer then says "Let me guyss you work for the cable company dont ya!" The customer nods his head.

Cue the DirecTV "Feel the Joy" Music.

The best is when the guy asks the installer to park his truck behind the house as well.

God, anything would be an improvement. "Where's the beef" would be an improvement.

Hey RAJ you should see the new PPV ads shown on Dish, that women they got doing the commercials is HOT :D

Dish has never really done any national anti cable ads. There are a few commercials here, on local tv and radio put out by retailers, that bash cable.

WHAT channels are you seeing these commercials ON? i have yet to see one.

OK no one has to respond. I finally saw this "Interesting" commercial on the SciFi channel. Seems this is the channel all the Major players likes to advertise on.

While It was kinda funny, not hilarious, they can come up with more funny stuff. Something that will make u say WHOA! Gotta try thast. This commericla doesn't have it.

JE:lol:

No one should need a commercial to tell them that satellite beats cable. There's enough satellite customers out there -- how many of them are switching back to cable? Word-of-mouth and the enticement of a huge channel list should be enough.

That's something I never really understood. Why have so many commercials telling you how great the service is if you already have it? I know this stuff already, that's why I have the darned thing.

Probably so you don't leave for something else. Ever hear of churn. Thought so.

Today at school I saw this one pathetic TW commercial.
In the background the song 'Singing in the Rain' was being played and it was raining outside then all of the TVs in a bar went to fuzz and people starting taking their dishes down and used them as umbrellas then when the storm was over they threw them in a garbage can. Needless to say my blood pressure was rising. Especially since the rain wasn't really a storm, more like a semi heavy sprinkle. But thats TW, what else can you expect...

TW was the reason I left cable in the first place. They have alot of nerve trying to make fun of ANYONE ELSES picture. May they rot in hell.

There are some cable systems that are better than satellite, with more channels, more DD and HDTV, and lower monthly cost, especially if you include broadband internet.

Rain fade is one of the main counterpoints that cable co's use against the satellite companies. The others are locals and broadband internet.

I bet you've also seen the TW ads with daffy trying to sell bugs a dish, then getting struck by lightning when he says "local news and weather? who needs that!?"

No I haven't seen that one yet, but there was one that I saw Thursday that I failed to see the point in. A guy was sitting on top of his roof talking to his dish saying (paraphrased) 'I want to watch The Sopranos this season'.

Whatever TW thinks they are trying to accomplish they aren't. There are new dishes being put up around here all the time now that Buffalo locals are on D*.
