My brothers

My initial HD receiver, (Samsung 360), has gotten increasingly buggy - rebooting out of nowhere, inability to view MLB extra innings channels without a reboot etc.

I called D* and they hooked me up with a free H20, which will hopefully be here by the weekend.

How does it compare to my beloved HR20's as far as things like channel change speed and picture quality?

I know it probably has it's own forum, but I'd like the perspective from fellow owners of both.

FWIW I get a better picture on the HR20 than the Sammy, (both are connected to the same Plasma TV so a/b'ing is easy), and I hope the H20 is equally good

Your thoughts are appreciated

Two models, H20-100 (RCA) and H20-600 (LG). The -100 has HDMI incompatibilies with some brands of televisions (notably Samsung), component works fine. The -600 can have overheating problems--it is best placed where there is adequate airflow (a laptop cooler will help). The -600 has an excellent OTA tuner. I had a -600 before getting my HR20. It was somewhat faster (not surprising). Picture quality was about the same (generally excellent). It self-rebooted twice in six months.

Man, the H20-600 is faster than the HR20? Wow, that gives me pause about getting one. The -600 nearly made me rip my hair out, something solved by returning it and getting a -100.

I have an H20-600, it is in the open so I have had no overheating problems and it has been a great receiver for me (I have an HR20-700 also). The H20-600 OTA tuner is one of the best available. PQ from my perspective is the same as the HR-20.

My -600 did not have overheating problems either, it was just so painfully slow (menus and channel changing) that I wanted to smash it with a hammer. The -100 runs much quicker.

I have never owned a DVR and am very interested in the HR20. However, I do surf a bit and I see that that habit would have to change to preserve sanity. :)

I love my H20-600. I'm running the latest CE release for it, it makes the guide 3x faster than with the current national release, and I am not exaggerating. There will be a new national release for both H20 models soon. The H20 gets an A+ from me.
