So cables from the 5 LNB dish go into the new WB68 multiswitch...then 4 cables out of the first 4 outputs of the WB68 into the inputs of the older multiswitch...this should give me 4 outputs from the new WB68 (2 for HR-20) and 8 outputs from the old multiswitch (for the rest of 'em!)...Sorry for the deep details but I wanna make sure I'm doing this right!

Is this RIGHT?

Thanks ALL!
That should work...

UPDATE!!!

This doesn't work...

My old Directv TIVO's are missing the sd locals...I'm getting everything on the new HR20, HD locals and everything else...but nothing on the others. My wife is SO MAD at me because she missed Idol, Boston Legal and others. For my local Fox station it's on Animal Planet. She called D* and they're gonna send someone out Saturday but I was hoping I could fix it 1st.

Here's my setup

I've got 3 SD Directv Tivos, 2 old receivers that are not getting the locals...I just repeated setup on one of them and it says I'm missing 119 (B) and 110 (C)...

Sounds like cascading the multiswitches isn't working for you.

This multiswitch should work:

http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_display.asp?main_cat=02&CAT=&PROD=WB616

You'll have to pay for it as D* won't install it for free, but if it saves you grief from your wife, it may be worth it. :)

It SHOULD work. Others have done the same thing and it actually improved the operation of the receivers attached to the WB68 since the powered switch is supplying power to the dish, lnbs, and WB68.

Is the other switch a different model? Try it.

And instead of buying another cascading switch, I'd suggest investing in 4 power-passing splitters: http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/Perfect/PV23-302_Satellite-Splitter.htm. Then you can hook the two switches in parallel and have even more ports. And is the approved method for connecting two switches to a dish.

Another thing to try: check the cables between the switches. The 22khz or sat B/C cables might need tightening or verifying.

Good luck,
Tom

I ordered this last night...It's kind of frustrating that D* won't give you this. I pay all the receiver fees every month! Oh well...

Thanks for the help

This setup DOES work. This is exactly how mine is set up.

All 4 lines in from the sat into the WB68, and 4 lines out from that into the powered 5X8 switch.

Sounds like a bad connection between the WB68 and the powered switch.

Yes, that is EXACTLY how I had mine (since changed to test SWM device, but it worked great when I was using it).

Dish -> WB68 (1,2,3,4) -> Terk BMS58 -> R15, D11, R10, D12
Dish -> WB68 (5,6,7,8) -> HR20 #1 and #2

And DIRECTV does typically give them out as they are required for proper working of their service and the installer who installed your 5lnb (or delivered) should have installed a working system.

At this point, you might be able to get credits to cover the cost of the new switch. Or they might send out another tech with another wb68.

Good luck
