Upgraded to the local channels package and have not been impressed with the picture quality.I have 3 D11 receivers and 1 R15.I get the same result with each. The picture seems ok then it kind of pulsates or flashes in a minor but annoying way.The background will sort of move and facial colors appear to change shade.I was told that the locals are hard to compress and the new satellites going up this fall should provide more bandwidth and take care of this problem. Some of the other channels don't seem to be as sharp as they were with my old single LNB,and reds and woodgrain backgrounds seem to jump around.Any suggestions or insight besides new TV's or picture adjustment ? The multiswitch is a Zinwell WB68.Thanks for any replies.

You can try settings your display to widescreen on your receivers.Make sure to hook up your receivers using the SVideo for the best picture possible. After that if there is no improvement I would suggest having a Directv tech come out and check out your system.Good Luck!.:):welcome_s

Thanks for the reply.I am using S Video on all the TV's.I had a DTV tech check it out and he said it was the way the dish is receiving the signal on the locals.I'll try the wide screen setting and see what happens.I don't think that will help the locals issue though.I think they still have some tweaking to do on their transmission end of it.The Tech thought the picture was ok,but then did start to notice what I was talking about and said for now that is the way it is.They don't mention on the phone or adds you might have slight defects on your local channels.Where I live we get the signal off SAT 119 which I was told is low in the atmosphere.

The standard definition local channels tend to me more heavily compressed than other channels, such as the pay movie channels (PPV, HBO, etc). As Jhon69 points out, about all you can do is use the best quality connection between your Receiver and TV. Proper adjustment of your TV's video settings using a video calibration DVD (Avia, Digital Video Essentials) can help quite a bit, too.
If you think the problem is signal related, post back your readings from the 119-deg satellite's transponders.

Thanks for the info.I'll have to try a video calibration DVD.The 119 readings I get are very good, mid to upper 90's.
