I called Familyland last night as soon as I saw Spirit take it's place. There is no mention of the departure from Sky Angel on either FL's or SA's websites (other than no evidence that they were ever on SA to begin with).

I got a recorded message saying that they were in negotiations with another provider, ans to leave a message with name and address if you wanted information on where they are going. I left name address and phone and then said that I hoped that I could still use the Dish Network equipment that I already had.

It's a shame that FL left SA. They (The Apostolate for Family Consecration) were one of the first promoters of Sky Angel. I still remember getting mailers from AFC asking us to consider purchasing a SA lifetime subscription. At the time it was $99 IIRC. This was in the early 90's. I wish I would have saved one of those fliers, it had an artist's rendition of a DBS dish - it looked like a backyard bar-b-cue grill turned on it's side.

If anyone wants to call FL the number is: 1-800-FOR-MARY.

My wife called a little while ago to let me know that FamilyLand has been removed from our lineup. We signed up with SkyAngel last spring after a priest from the FamilyLand apostolate made an appearance at our parish, and the only reason we signed up with SA was to receive the FL channel.

Is there any chance they'll accept this as a reason to cancel without charging an early termination fee?

I didn't know there was such a thing as an early termination fee with Sky Angel, unless yu also got Dish Network service.
If you did get Dish too, hang on for awhile, I'm hoping that FL will be added to the Dish Network "PI" channels (as has already happened with other religious channels that were formerly on SA such as Daystar)

I just called again (this time to 1-800-77FAMILY). They have more information on the recording now. Basically, it was Sky Angel's decision to drop Familyland because Familyland did not fit the "style" of Sky Angel!?!

I suppose FNC, HGTV, and the two Hallmark channels better fit the new SA style.
Shame On Dominion Sky Angel The AFC was one of the earliest promoters of Sky Angel - and this is how they are treated!

Maybe it's time to shake the dust from our sandals.
