I'm curious, as apparently other are, if the HR20-100 is replacing or will coexist with the HR20-700. I thought maybe with the help of those that already have HR20s we can see if there is a trend...

If you have an HR20 that was purchased from DirecTV (not retail), please answer the following questions:

1) Which model did you get, 100 or 700?
2) When?
3) Direct ship from D* or delivered by local installer?

All of the information I've heard from DirecTV and various retailers indicates that both versions will co-exist. They're simply different manufacturers.

I was shipped a -700 with the directv installer last month. What amazed me was the manufacturer date was within 2 weeks of the install date..

As Litzdog stated... they are still manufacturing and shipping both, the -700 and -100

Had an install on April 20th. Got the HR20-700.

Besides the manufacturer, how does these units differ? HDD size? Features?

HDD ~ the same... the HR20-100 is 20gb larger
Features ~ the same, now that the -100 is updated... they will generally be functionally equivalent.

hr20-100s was installed last Saturday (April 28th) off the installers truck.

700 installed this morning (05/05). Internal temp problems (165 degrees) caused continuous shut-downs and reboots. Mailing out 100b via FedEx w/ return kit for the 700.

HR20-100S installed yesterday from DirecTV (build date on box is 4/12/07).

HR20-700: Made in Mexico 03/31/07 and installed by a local installer (along with 5LNB Dish) on 04/18/07
