I understand that the zinwell sup-2400 "b band converter (bbc) modules" are currently not needed but will be needed when the new satellites come online. The idiot installer only left one of them for the 2 tuners and did not hook them up. I have a multiswitch hooked up and was wondering if it isn't better just to buy 3 more of them and hook up the 4 to the inputs of the multiswitch rather than the individual hr-20 receivers so the whole setup will be ready for the new satellites? Any ideas?

I believe they need to be contected right to the HR20.

Call Directv and they should send a replacement out since the installer did not leave it.

They need to be close to the receiver, so getting several & mounting them on the inputs of the multi-switch won't work.

but mounting them on the outputs of the multi-switch does work.

There is some question as to how far from the receiver they should be. Nobody will know until the Ka-lo starts to be used, but at this time, they are recommended to be much closer than my multi-switch [30']. FWIW

A DTV CSR can order the B-band converter for you. You do not necessarily have to have a tech visit. In most cases, they are connected directly to the receiver.

Right. DirecTV recommends that they be connected to the Receiver/DVR end, not at the dish/multiswitch end.

@ the OP: If your installer didn't take the packaging with him, check the box to see if the extra BBC is in the box ...

If you're missing a B-Band Converter, check DirecTV's web site. There's a link somewhere where you can request a free replacement.
