well I did it, I ordered DISH Network. Even worse( I am just nervous), I went into the 18 month commitment that they are adverting, it took me 20 minutes to debate weather or not to do so, but now I just look at the perks of it: free DISH movers, free DHPP, and free equipment replacement. The programing I decided to start out with is AT 100+HD w/Starz, and the equipment I chose to go with is: 1 622 ViP HD-DVR 2 SD receivers. all this (hopefully) for$60.00 a month, as quoted by the CSR.

Hopefully not. another "perk" of the commitment is that all the equipment is free (but I'll see tomorrow on the work order and receipt).

An existing customer can get a 622 free as well when upgrading to HD service. You have to call and be polite but persistent. I have a dual tuner non-HD in my living room. Dish originally was going to charge me $149 (or 199... can't remember)to upgrade it to the 622. I told them I have been a long time customer and have upgraded both equipment and service several times over the years. You will may the $149 up front but they will put a "customer satisfaction" discount on your bill and basically give it all back to you.

I was not obnoxious, but I did explain to them that they were making it cheaper for me to just call cable and get them back in here AND I'd get my locals in HD on cable where Dish is not providing those here.

They can... and will... sweeten the pot. I think it's all in how you approach it. Don't be a jerk, but have some valid arguments ready.

AT100=$29.99
Locals=$ 5.00
HD Pack = $20.00
Additional Receiver/Lease Fee = $5 x 2 = $10.00
622 lease fee/DVR fee $6.00

Looks like about $66 a month ($71 with locals) to me plus tax where applicable (some states do, some don't). That is assuming that the additional receivers are not DVRs. Add $5.98 for the DVR fee.

Yep, that's what got me off the fence after debating dropping cable for some time.
