well....a different installer is here now and he dont attach the brace to the roof is this bad?

i'm on the 2nd floor of an apt complex. the slimline is being installed on the side of an overhang. he is attaching a wallmount to the wall below it and anchoring it to the dish anchor. the guy next door also had the roof brace attached. he said he wouldnt do it for me b/c the roof will leak. however......the part of the roof where the brace would be screwed into is part of the overhang so it wont leak into my apartment. is this brace really necessar in my case and should i just call back directv later on after he is done and tell them he didnt install a brace and have someone else come out and do that?

oh on top of this "free" upgrade i'm having to pay 150 bucks for this wall mount and then the idiot asked me why i wanted to keep my antenna. i dont need to explain this! in addition he was only gonna provide me with 1 more line....(dtv called him and took care of that event), and on top of it argued that there wuld never be a problem with diplexed lines and mpeg4. dtv also talked to him over the phone and educated him on this.

but my big conern is this brace my neighbor has on his dish to the roof. i need some feed back on how important that is

I don't understand the extra charge for a wall mount, that is standard. Mine is wall mounted, near the roof, and both braces are into the wall. Can you post any pictures?

well...he said because it's extra work. not only is there a mount for the dish on the side of overhang but then he had to put the wall mount on wall beside of it and then attach the dish mount and the wall mount together so the dish is secure. but then he wont install the roof brace ugh.

remember i'm on the 2nd floor of an apt complex. dtv said the charge was correct. i dont care i just want that roof brace on there too like my neighbor has.

also.....does mpeg4 use different cabling? looks like the cables he is installing on the dish are alot thicker than the onest i have running into my house now........and if so is he gonna have to replace all the lines? i'm afraid to ask because he is very rude and has already threatened to cancel one (like he's the customer or something)

Actually the wall mount itself is pretty strong, but I would prefer the extra braces. Most installers won't do any more than they can get away with.

well...i'm just gonna call dtv after he leaves and say "oh he forgot to install the roof brace" and have them send other people out.

is the sat cables different for the mpeg4. looks like he is using thicker ones.

they should be rg6, maybe your old lines are rg59

There is RG6 and then RG6 Quad. The Quad is a little bit bigger in circumference.
As previously mentioned you may also have RG59. Honestly, not ideal, but should work in most circumstances.
