When does DTV's NFL Sunday Ticket Promo commence? Does anyone remember what last year's promo entailed? I am perplexed as to what I should do. The current promotion that I am looking it is:

a) $100 credit from switching over from TWC to DTV
b) Plus HD DVR reg. $69.99, now $59.99 for 12 months
c) $100 rebate for the HR-20/700, net cost $199
d) (3) months free HBO, Showtime & Cinemax
e) free installation for (2) rooms & a 5LNB Dish
f) DTV protection plan included (1) year.

If I get this package I would also purchase the "Early Bird" NFL ST package for $250 and do a 5-pay for $50/a shot.

I was on the phone for around an hour with two DTV CSR's today and they wouldn't even confirm whether or not this year there would be another NFL ST promo. Obviously, there doing their best to lock me in now. I'm still under the belief that it would behoove my wife & I to wait it out and try my luck with the NFL ST promo. If we wait it out for the NFL ST promo would we lose the $100 rebate on the HR-20/700, as well as the switch from TWC. And would we also lose "Free Installation/Equipment"?

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated....................I am very excited about these new satellites getting up there and I think DTV is going to overwhelm the competition with respects to HD channels offered.

The deal I got last year was pay for NFL Sunday Ticket and get the following free for 4 months:

Total Choice Premier
HD Service
DVR Service
Free H20 (non dvr, hd receiver)
Free R15 (dvr)

I think they started offering it around early August or so.

The final say will obviously be yours. The NFL ST promo usually starts right before the season begins. In terms of what is offered, the only concrete way to know is to wait until the offer arrives. In the past the offer was four free months of the Premier package with a subscription to NFL ST and no additional monthly discounts. The equipment offers will be the same or better.
Sorry, but that is about the best answer you will find until the Promo arrives. As far as the TWC promo, that is usually a rebate you have to send in. If so, the rebate will have an expiration date and that may answer your TWC question. Good luck in your decision.

texasmoose,

Welcome to DBSTalk!!! :welcome_s

I don't think the NFL ST promo is necessarily the same from year to year. Also, the price of ST is $250, but that does not include the HD game broadcasts (you would receive any HD games broadcast on your local channels as normal - separate from the ST package). The SuperFan package (which includes the HD ST games and interactive features on specific receivers) is usually priced at an additional $99.

The deal they are offering now is not too bad. You may want to talk to them and see if they can't also throw in a deal on SuperFan to sweeten things, but there's no guarantee that you would get a better deal by waiting. And I'm not sure that you get a better price than the Early Bird price on ST if you wait - more likely programming deals as others have mentioned.

Either way, as a new customer, standard installation (dish, cables, multi-switch if needed, etc.) would still be free, I believe, whether you sign up now or wait.

Good luck with your decision!

Thank you for the welcome. I am from Southern Cal and when I was in 5th grade, which was a long, long time ago, I chose "Minnesota" out of the hat that the teacher had brought around for each student to give a report/presentation thereof. I've been a "Viking" fan ever since, and that was the year after "Joe Kapp" got jacked by KC. We've had alot years of heartache. I'm now living in Cowboy Country and I hate the so called "America's Team" what a joke!!!

I didnt realize you had to purchase additional stuff to get ST in HD, ouch! Well worth it I might add.

My 2nd question is: My wife had DTV about 5 years ago, if she trys to jump on DTV again as a new customer will their database find her out once she gives her SSN. Alot of these promos are for "first-time" customers. I would sign up, I've never had DTV before, but my credit is something left to be desired and they wanted a $300 deposit from me. My wife & I are buying a house and escrow closes (2) weeks from today and we need all the $$ we can muster to pay for closing costs. With deposit & $199 for the HR20/700 + any other small fee thrown in would not be feasible for us. I am very happy that our new house has an unobstructed view of the southern sky.

Five years ago they weren't collecting SS#s so your odds improve of her being a new customer, different address and phone number also improve odds. There will be a NFL ST promo this year but so far only Directv knows what the rules will be. Current promotions lock in pricing for 12mo. with rebates you will save around $300 plus the discount on Sunday Ticket. Last years promo saved about $400 with 4 months of Premier free but Sunday Ticket was more expensive than $250 so it will be close to a wash.

One thing that D* has is reconnect/winback/former customer offers. Your wife may want to call them & tell them that she's a former customer and would love to come back to them and have her ask them what they can do for her. I've seen winback offers that are better than new customer offers.

That's the deal I got last year. It was $69 a month for a few moths. I got the

HD Package free for 6 months
Total Choice Plus All Movies Channels (while paying Sunday Ticket Off)
HD receiver,
free DVR,
free standard receiver.
Sunday ticket + super fan.
10 dollars off because of my credit
A free iPod Nano
about 20 pay per view vouchers.

Then, about 3 months later, the HR 20 came out, so I called them out to get it. They took half off and broke up the payments up over 3 months. Then the installer screwed it up because he, 'ain't never seen one of these before'. He also used MY cell phone to call them (though he had his own cell phone!!!! ) so I called and bitched and got HBO for a few more months. :)

Damn, now that I look back on it they really gave me the world. If i were you, I'd wait until near the football season. Remember, the new HD channels will be out soon and I bet there will be an INCREDIBLE push to steal Dish/Cable customers before football season. I think that's going to be the best time to strike.

But, no matter what, I think D* tries their best to get a good deal out there year 'round. It's like a car dealership....just wait for the deal you want and I think the deal you want will be in Aug. :D

Starting today until June 25 If a new customer signs up and orders Sunday Ticket Early Bird, they will receive free Superfan.

As far as when the NFL Promotions (comparable to last's years) it will be 3rd quarter. I think that will start next month if I'm correct.

last's years NFL Sunday Ticket/ 4 months free Premier started June 28th and ran throught September 30. You may want to wait it out another month or so. The 3rd quarter/ ST promo is usually the best time to sign up.

Well looks like we are screwed & unable to take advantage of the "New Customer Promo". We could've I suppose, but after the "credit check" they wanted a $300 deposit before they would allow us to sign-up on a new customer account. Of course they tried to tell us it wasn't a deposit, then what the hell do you call it??!?!

We had to go with "Plan B". It turns out my wife had an account before and they found her in the system 5 years back. Initially, the CSR told her we would have to go through the "New Customer" process, but after a few gripes from the both of us she did an override and reactivated her old account. She did offer us an incentive to jump over from TWC. Here is what we got:

(1) HR20/700, with the $100 rebate, net cost $199
(2) H20 $99
(3) HBO, Cinemax & Showtime (3) months free
(4) HD Plus, reg $69.99, 12-month lock @ $59.99
(5) $100 incentive to swith from TWC to DTV.
(6) Free Install up to (4) rooms, even though we just have (2) HDTV's
(7) 5 LNB AT9 Dish
(8) WB68 Multi-switch

Is it too late to call them back and get the "Early Bird ST pckg" and get the "Superfan" thrown in for free?

I think we got a pretty good deal as is......We at least got to work around the $300 deposit. We couldn't wait till the end of the month. We are moving into our brand new home on June 14, and there is no active cable or fiber in the ground as of yet, but both are coming. Our development has older phase homes with "FiOS" onboard, but we wanted NFL ST and who knows when other media outlets will be afforded ST. I will still get "FiOS" when it comes on board in another few months, but just for internet only.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts!

Peace..................

That is a standard offer for all new customers who purchase Sunday Ticket until June 25. Good deal though
