View Full Version : Faster way to caption?

Okay, it appears that years of rock concerts, loud car stereos in the 80's and age have taken their toll.
I've found that lately I've had to admit that I struggle to hear some dialogue here and there with various shows. Thankfully it's rare but when it happens it's annoying. I miss key comments and points.
I just started grabbing those points by rewinding and turning on captioning. It works great. The problem is turning it off and on.
Is there a way to quickly toggle this on and off? If not, should there be? It'd be really nice to have even a hidden command to do it for those of us with better remotes. I'd love to be able to have the equivalent of my DVD's Audio button and just cycle through the options quickly.

As of right now no. Down the road probably. There are a couple of threads about adding a toggle for CC on and off.

I with you on this one, way to many steps to turn it on or off. To make matters worse for me, I have just confirmed with Samsung that my LN-T4665F bypasses the CC decoder or turner or whatever it's called via any connection but Ant 1 & 2 input.
Yeah, I'm going to buy a 46" lcd with a DTV HR20 HD receiver and use the antenna inputs. Yeah, right:mad: I've read it on another thread that someone's Sony does CC on all the digital inputs.
I love my Samsung lcd, but this is a stupid design decision. Before I went to HD, I had a DTV R10 and a Proscan TV. The TV had an option to turn on captions whenever I muted the tv speakers. I didn't use the tv speakers at all and always had them turned all the way down. That meant a simple mute toggle turned CC on and off.
What a goof Samsung did. Not that the HR20 is anything to brag about either regarding CC.

I use it as you do, to decipher unintelligible dialogue, or song lyrics.
No easy way to enable CC (but please vote on the Wish List). However, once you've enabled it, you can quickly get to the CC toggle to turn it off and on again by pressing the BACK button.
