My installer says he can split the 4-room deal into 2 rooms in 2 houses, which is fine except he wants to charge $180 for the 2nd 500+ dish at my parent's house. We're only getting the great wall package.

I have two legacy 500 dishes at home. Can't he just point these directly at the great wall package satellite instead of using the larger 500+ dish?

Is the 500+ required if you want to watch both great wall package and local channels?

THat is illegal and is called stacking. THis is why he wants the $180.00 to do it. You will also get caught by the DIsh Audit team and they will cut off all the receivers not located in your house.
