I have had Vonage for over a year now, and have successfully had my HR10 connect to a number in New York. I have been getting the message that it is not dialing in for updates for the last two weeks. Is anyone else having this problem or have a solutions? The number that I am dialing is 212 277 3895. Thanks,

I never could get the D*Tivo to dial out on VOIP. Also check out tivocommunity.com

Using modem-based equipment with VOIP phone systems can be hit-or-miss. But it doesn't really matter. You don't need a phone connection for your HR10. You just won't be able to order PPV movies with your remote (order via DirecTV's web site instead). And you'll get these reminder messages, which you can safely delete.

Yes, i have had the same experience. worked fine for about a year calling the NY number with Vonage. then about 2 weeks ago, it stopped working for my HR20 and my series2 SD directivo. i don't know what changed ... Vonage, or the modem on the other end (causing it to be less friendly to VOIP).

the nag message sucks. can these be hacked to not make the call WITHOUT buying a CD like instant cake?

Go with the zipper and buy the instantcake image. $20 is a bargain for the wealth of features it opens up.

FYI that the HR20 has no phone number you can configure to dial in. HR20 does not need a phone line, period, other then for PPV.

Tivo is the one that "needs" a phone line to stop the nag messages.

My HR20 dials out on my Vonage line with no issue

yeah, i know. that was a typo. it was supposed to be HR10. i don't have an HR20. so yes, my HR10 (and HDVR2) WAS having the same issue.

i emailed vonage a few days ago. told them my directivos wouldn't connect anymore. told them roughly when it changed based on the tivo's last successful calls. also i told them that i knew it was something on their end since others have been reporting the same problems. i asked them to revert whatever change they made.

they responded, telling me they made a change and to try again. i rebooted my vonage interface, and sure enough, both tivos now connect!

so if you are having problems, let vonage know, and maybe they will "fix" it for you too.
