A few weeks ago I started experiencing serious pixelation problems on my HD locals (Pittsburgh), checked the signal strength and its less than 50% most of the time on the 99. This is the satellite I get my HD locals from.

I called D* and they sent someone to my house to realign the dish and afterwards all the other signal strengths got worse with no improvement on the 99. He said there was nothing else he could do and left.

The second time I called D* I wanted a credit. They offered me a $2 credit (I thought it was a joke) which I obviously blew up about and they gave me Showtime and TMC for a month. Whatever, I want my HD channels. I scheduled another service call.

The second tech that came here realigned the dish with no change on any of the signal strengths. He suggested it was my HR20 which I highly doubt but I am getting a new one anyway just in case.

I'm too far from the city to do OTA HD. Does anyone have any ideas how I can go about getting the problem fixed, getting out of their stupid commitment (since I'm requesting a service which they can't provide reliably), or getting a nice credit/upgrade applied to my account?

Do you have any line of sight issues, or is it just dish alignment issues as far as you can tell? If your HD locals are on 99, then you should be able to get a signal in the 80's at least provided your dish is properly aligned, and maybe even more importantly, the mast your dish is mounted on is perfectly plumb. Can you give some more details about your dish location and install?

The dish is on a pole cemented 3.5 ft in the ground. No trees or wires are in the way. Thanks for the help.

Every transponder is above 90 except 18 and 26 they are 77 and 58 respectively.

And you are absolutely sure that pole is perfectly plumb? how about wiring? Is it brand new RG6 SCC running to your multiswitch if you have one, and then new to each drop in your house?

I'm not sure what kind of wiring it is. The install was professionally done and is only about 6 months old. I know there are 4 wires coming into the multiswitch (its a 6x8).

It could be a dish or multiswitch problem. Insist that they replace the multiswitch, and if that doesn't solve the problem they should replace your dish's LNBs.
