Billy :D :hi:
this title should be changed to rumor unless u know something the NBA or Dish don't know....
Facts:
1. DTV and in-demand are the authorized sellers on NBA.COM
2. Only sports packages on dishnetwork.com are college football and NHL Hockey.
3. e* csr's don't know anything about it and can't take orders.
4. time is running out with the season starting in 7 days ...highly unlikely that they could get any amount of traffic in that time other than those of us who read this board.
Consider this whole topic speculation until something other than a few satellites are moved around.
It may happen but still not a "done" deal.

You sure? I haven't heard anything from my friends who are really wanting this package... I have DirecTV so I can't call and ask, but NBA's League Pass page doesn't say anything about Dish...
http://www.nba.com/tv_programs/league_pass.html
And there is nothing on their sports page...

They should be in Red. I know who posted them.

I changed the thread title to show it's not official yet, even though it might as well be. It's better to be safe then sorry until we see an offical press release though. Congrads to John H who made the discovery of the additional channels in the 550 range a while ago. :righton:
Thanks Steve. These (maybe) NBA Channels were pulled from the data stream in an unsusal fashion this evening.

korn....FTA (free-to-air receiver i guess shows this info)
But TNGtony's site has it listed incorrect...those channels should be in Red (and as a "placekeepers" - or whatever it's called)
Instead of being there as existant ones
James_F

This is just one weird thread IMO... :eek2:
kornkid81
10-22-02, 08:46 PM
why weird?...it was just a misplacement of information that i thought was already avaliable to the public. That doesnt mean that its weird?...or is it because of the hug thing....geez is there a rule on "NOT MAKING JOKES" on this site, get a sense of humor.

Sorry guys...my bad on the listings not being in red. I was told that they channels were there and unavailable to mere mortals. I threw the channels up on the list just before going to work and forgot to add the necessary color and (##). This morning it would have been a (1) or (14). But now...since the channels seem to have vanished as quickly as they went up, I changed them to a (9)
One again, I apologize for the slip-up on my part.
See ya

Didn't Dish also have the ESPN Full Court college basketball package last year?

10-22-02, 10:08 PM
Does this mean there will be no LP on Dish?

Jeff,
It means that unless the persons talking about the posibility of getting league pass are at the negotiating table with the E* and NBA officers, they have no more a clue than those of us looking at the IDs of transponders and hidden info! :D
In other words...we don't know for sure. NO ONE does until there is a real decision.

Yeah E* has had Full Court for the past few years now.
I guess it could be Full Court, but they did not need extra channels for it in the past. :)

I just talked to someone at Echostar and this person confirmed that the NBA League Pass will indeed be coming to Dish!
I was told to look for an official announcement from Dish Network coming today or tommorow!
Of course as a disclaimer, nothing is official until a Press Release from Dish Network is issued. :D

I will keep my fingers crossed. I just hope this does not turn out to be a false alarm like a couple of years ago when it was reported that ActionMax and ThrillerMax would be added to the MultiMax package, then something happened at the last minet and we are still waiting.

Scott - I also noticed that page a couple of days ago, but I didn't know if it was new or what. I had clicked on the NHL announcement on the main page, and then edited the address to see if there was a comparable page that might have League Pass information.
I talked to a Dish CSR yesterday, and he said they hadn't received any email or heads-up yet, but he said they usually get some type of info a day or two before the official announcement (at least that was true for the NHL announcement).
I was getting ready to switch over to DirecTV on Monday, but have been stalling to see if Dish will get NBA LP in time. Talk about waiting until the last minute ...

Welcome Ike!
As I said I was told that it a go by one (now two) seperate people at Echostar. :)
Also people with FTA reveivers have seen some channels light up for NBA complete with SID's. This has been reported around the Internet.
I feel this is an exciting thing for Dish Network. :)

What about ESPN Full Court? That isn't listed as being offered on the DishNetwork website. Is that going to be offered again?
Reverend Ike
10-23-02, 01:49 PM
Assuming Dish will offer both ...
Since the ESPN Full Court season starts later than the NBA League Pass season, I'm thinking that ESPN FC won't be announced until perhaps early November, after the NBA LP is announced and the signup schedule is in place. On DirecTV, the ESPN FC early-bird signup period lasts until Nov 30.
On DirecTV, the NBA LP is allocated 13 channels, which more or less corresponds with the 12 channels (560-571) that Dish appears to be allocating. On DirecTV, the ESPN FC is allocated 10 channels - perhaps Dish plans on allocating the 10 channels (550-559) which are located between the NHL CI and the NBA LP blocks for ESPN FC. Just guessing ...

Finally, I will only have one DBS provider. No more double bills. This makes me very happy. I will also hope for MLB EI, but at least I will get a lot of games even without the package. Just praying there are no last minute problems.
BTW: The previously noted channel IDs are back on except for 560.
Scott, at least one of us knows how those listings got on Lyngsat. :)

10-23-02, 05:51 PM
Yes I have been told now that the NBA Channels are up now on 561 - 571.
I am told that the Info screen reads as follows.
NBA League Pass give you up to 50 regular season games a week not otherwise available in your local area. To order call 1-800-333-DISH
Can anyone confirm this for me? This info was sent to me and I don't have a FTA receiver so I can't confirm it.
Well why in the hell can't they just go ahead and announce it? The season starts a week from today, they need to get word out so preorders can start. I am ready to order as soon as the announcment is made, hurry up Charlie!

I am kind of confused now. I can't understand why they havent announced anything yet.
I did get a note from my contact the NBA would be in Free Preview mode from Oct 29th through November 5th on Dish Network.
No word on Price.
I wonder whats taking them so long to announce it?
Reverend Ike
10-24-02, 12:24 PM
Those free preview dates match what is scheduled on DirecTV.
The DirecTV early-bird signup period is through Nov 5 ($20 discount = $159 total). Their regular full-season price is $179.
I would expect Dish to match (or beat) those prices. If anything, Dish should offer an extended early-bird signup period since they have made everyone wait so long. At this point, a new subscriber would probably not be able to get installation in time to avoid missing some of the free preview games.

It will (or at least should) be blacked out to those in the Nets home territory (NYC and surrounding area). The rest of the country will be able to watch the Nets just fine.

I don't think my question deserved some wise crack answer. There has been nothing official from Dish Network, and despite lots of speculation on the part of many on this topic, Dish has had last minute problems in negotiations before. The season begins in a few days. I believe we will have the NBA LP, but you have to keep your fingers crossed when Dish is involved in negotiations.
Geronimo
10-25-02, 07:24 AM
Ronmort I apologize if it was taken as a wise crack answer. We are all frustrated in these situations. I was trying to look at the light side which is exactly what I thought you were doing when you asked "Are you guys sure NBA LP is coming to Dish THIS year?".
Perhaps in both cases it came out the wrong way.

Geronimo: Sometimes Dish worries me. They find some glitch at the last minute. I remember a few years ago, there was talk that Dish was going to get MLB EI, and at the last minute, something happened, and that was the end of that. It was the year I switched to Dish because I thought they were going to get the package. I really enjoy MLB and NBA games, and I am hoping the NBA LP will be on. I have kept a DTV account active just for these two packages, and I'd be satisfied with having only Dish if they add just one of those packages. I just misinterpreted your comment. Sorry for that. My stupid fault! We all sure do need a sense of humor.
Geronimo
10-25-02, 10:06 AM
Don't worry Ronmort. It happens. we joke around a lot here but one thing about email and boards is that you don't see facial expressions and body language like you do in person.
I went with DISH for the supers and because I could in for $0 and pay less per month than I did with cable. I agaonized over it though because the sports packs on DTV seem appealing. So I see wher you are coming from.
Next time you are in the DC area stop by the reservation.
