Not sure where to post this one but im sure Earl with push it to the correct spot.

Since last weekend (memorial day). None of my recievers or friends can get channel 96 correctly. There is video and audio stutter every 3-10 seconds. I tested on both my HR-20 700's and H20 and the problem is in all. I went to a friends with a Hr20-100 and same issue there. I called Direct TV and they say it's FOX's problem. I called FOX and they say it's directv compression thats the problem and they arent following guidelines they originally made. This sounds like each other blaming... I just want this to work.

If you get the Marlins/Brewers game which is on Live now, just watch and listen for 10 minutes and youll see what the problem is..

Thanks..

I am also in Miami and experienced the same thing last night. I heard it more during commercials, but that is proabably becuase I was into the game and it did not bother me as much.

How does one call FOX or DirecTV to complain/ask about such things? I doubt the typical CSR when you call even knows about this. Do you have to speak to Tech Support?

I am sure it is a DTV problem since I put my trust more in the broadcaster makign sure that their feed is up to par.

Yeah, there are many problems with the FSN/Sun games on 96. The Rays games have been even worse than the Marlins. While some of the problems in the past have been with the RSN broadcast itself, I've verified that in many if not most cases it is a D* issue (i.e., FIOS and cable aren't having the problem). While they seem to have fixed most of the problems with our MPEG4 local networks, the transcoding to MPEG4 for the games from FSN isn't working well.

I've reported it many times to D* CSRs who have always (1) said it is a problem with the RSN broadcast itself, and then (2) after I note that it isn't, promised to pass it on to the tech folks. If they have, it hasn't helped...so I haven't bothered lately.

I wish they'd get their act together in this regard.

Same problem especially the last two games in HD. The SD feed was OK though, 634.

So, is there anything we can do, obviously D* doesnt care or cant resolve the problem. WPLG 10 has been a nightmare of other issues which D* also wont admit there is a problem,

I actually think that (contrary to what the frontline CSRs might say) they know there are problems, do care, and will get it resolved...eventually. Here in Tampa, the MPEG4 problems with the big 4 networks have largely been eliminated.

I do wish that they'd get the channel 96 issues fixed sooner rather than later. Seems that the HD RSNs are problematic in many markets. Given that D* positions themselves as the choice for sports fans, I have to think they'd want to eliminate the problems as soon as they can.

I've also experienced these issues here in Orlando with FSN FL HD broadcasts on ch 96. I've asked about it and they've given me the same oh well yeah thats an issue and were aware of it bs. If you notice on nights the marlins or rays hd game is also part of MLBEI if you watch it on ch 94/95 its crystal clear hd so obviously its not an issue with the FSN feed, its d

Have seen the same problems. It's not the RSN broadcast though...because when I watch that through cable it's fine.

when is it exactly that the Marlin's games are are carried in HD? I looked for it all weekend and could not find them since Friday night. I beleive one of those nights they were on Sun, not sure if it still comes in HD or not when that happens.

Also, is Ch.96 the ONLY place it comes in HD? Is that where i need to be looking? I would love to be able to program my HR20 to record the games automatically. Not sure if that is possible if the feeds are always changing.

The audio issues aren't going away, Directv says they're aware of it and working on but blames FSN. FSN thanks me for my email an apologizes for any problem which they will look in to, but claim no awareness of an issue. Let's keep on them both until it's improved.

P.S. / Richard they're on 95 or 96 when in HD. You can see it listed on the Marlin schedule: http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=fla

Possibly, the worst part today was the Marlins' effort... but you're right. It seemed a bit better today, but the sound on the commercials was poorerst. Let's hope for the best.

You got that right, hope it works out better for them when they get to Atlanta.

I doubt you could record them automatically because many times the games aren't listed untill 12 hours or so before game time. Sometimes they are listed on both 95 & 96 and won't know untill just about game time. The station that lists the pre-game is the live station. I don't know know how the signal is beamed because I was in Punta Gorda and they were not on 96 (or 95) but when I got home (Ft Laud) they were on 96, go figure.

The only HD game this weekend was today (Sunday) at 1:00. The Friday night game was in SD and there was no TV Saturday night.

The Devil Rays/KC game this afternoon on 96 (FSN) is even worse than yesterdays Marlins game. Big time pixelation constantly, especially when the camera moves fast.

I just put it on for a few minutes, didn't have time to look too much. The picture was fine, audio seemd no better/worse than I've experienced of late, but again commercials were worse. I'm emailing Directv and FSN again.

The game is in the 6th inning now and the PQ has improved a lot since the earlier innings. A lot less pixelation that earlier in the game. Seems to be getting better as the game progresses. Maybe they are working on it today.

I really give up!!! This is so frustrating. I called tech support tonjight and spoke to a very nice supervisor and explained the problem on 96 and even held the phone up to the speaker to allow her to hear the problem. She says they were never told of any type of problem like this and they will email the people to have someone in the group check on this. I said other people have called and she said that no other messages about this problem exist in thier very large database. I even gave her this website and thread to see for themselves but i think this is all just a waste of time. They just dont care!

I tuned in a bit late tonight, but I can see, or rather hear a marked improvement. Long stretches of the game just fine, audio on the commercials pretty bad as before, and when they insert a graphic and do a voiceover promotion for something the audio is at times poor there as well. But I sense improvement, and fortunately it's during game play by play. I suggest we just keep at them, calling, and emailing both. It seems to be helping.

I trust they are aware of this, been going on for days now. Graphics seem to intensify the stutter. Picture sure is nice though...maybe I'll listen on the radio...lol

Maybe we get the feed off a different spot beam here in Central Florida, then you guys do in South Florida, but the audio tonight is fine up here. I do see occasional pixelation and the picture looks over compressed, and is not as sharp as I have seen it other times.

Not certain on the spot beams. My sister in laws lives in Punta Gorda and the HD Marlins games are not always aired there when they are here in Ft Laud. Picture is great here, just audio stutter, bad at times.

Every time they announce the games are in HD, we get them here, in the Orlando market. Also get the Devil Ray games. I am a Marlins fan, but enjoy watching the Rays games, in HD.

I think in the Ft Myers market they may get more Ray's games than we do here.

What is the proper contact addresses or web locations to complain to these folks about such things. I just got HD not too happy how the Marlins look/sound on Ch.96

I'm not sure who to contact. Not sure how much good it would do anyway, they are aware of the problems. All of these RSN feeds are hit and miss broadcasts and peacemealed together at best. I really don't think they are going to go crazy trying to fix a temporary setup as in a few weeks they will have the ability to put it all together properly and not have to do all the shuffeling between feeds. I can wait, I think it's great compared to what we did have and it can only get better. IMHO

If the problem is with the proper encoding of the broadcasts to MPEG4 (which I believe it is), then moving the channels to a national bird instead of a spotbeam isn't going to solve it.

I do think that they will get it fixed...but until then, it's annoying.

I was at my parents house this afternoon, (Davie) and saw but could not hear the game. My Mom is a Braves fan, yuk. She could not stand to listen to the Marlin's announcers, so she would not turn up the volume. Picture was good though.

Tell her I had to turn the volume down when ever that stated that annoying tomahawk chant. Sounds like a stadium full of people with diarrhea.

BUT -- When the SAME feed is on 95 (in mpeg2) its perfect.. it's not always on though which shows it's a D* issue with mpeg4.
