every spring when the leaves come out i lose the 119 degree sat., the hd sat with espn2,disc etc. then in the fall when the leaves fall off i get the sat. back. i should have the tree cut down but since i am losing hardly any stations i have waited. my question is will i not get any signal from the new satellites when they are up and running in the coming months? and how close are the two the exisisting satellites up there now, is it going to be closer to 101 and 110 which i get fine or are they going to be closer to 119, i live in vermont if that is any help
thanks

If you get 101 and 110 fine you should be alright. The only problem is I believe 99 and 103 are a little lower but I am not sure about that.

If by "lower" you mean in the sky, then no on the east coast they will be higher than the 119 [the lowest on the east coast & the highest on the west coast].
I am in the exact same situation. That is good to hear. I saw today that D-10 satelite is delayed, however.

Another question (for those few channels that are in HD from the 119) is how soon once the new sat is up will they become MPEG-4 from either the 99 or 103? One would assume awfully soon as their should be plenty of room left on that sat even with the NFLST-SF games.
That, I'd like to know. ESPN2 can be pretty important especially when your college team is on ESPN2 a few times in the Fall.

My guess is that the mirrors on 119° will stay for some time. Most if not all the NFL games will be available on 119° this whole season, IMHO. Now, how fast will they also have MPEG4 existence is unknown. Might be very quickly. OTOH might have to wait for all the other new HD channels to get fired up first.
Cheers,
Tom

I have the exact same problem. I am going to just wait it out for the new sats, I should get those channels once they go MPEG-4. In your case, like myself, the dish may need to be tweeked for the new birds once they are there. No matter how well it was peaked when installed the lower two 99 and 103 were'nt there for you to get signal strength readings.
If you get local HD (I would assume you do on LI) on channels 2, 4, 5, and 7 then you are already getting programming on the 99.
