LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The upcoming fourth season of Sci Fi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica" will be its final one after all.

(it's actually ending, per the creator's wishes, but that doesn't make as good of a title) :)

Well that blows!! Pretty soon there won't be much for me to watch on Sci-Fi Channel.

Sad on the one hand... but gratifying on the other. Always sad to lose a good show, but I much prefer missing a good show than hating a show that lingered a little too long.
The thing with BSG is that they have been moving forward... so either they have to find Earth, or the whole thing becomes a big tease that never ends... It would be nice if they could get 2 or 3 more seasons out of it... but if the creative minds behind the show do not feel their story contains that much fodder for development... I would rather them keep the pace and let the show end naturally and go out on a high note as opposed to it becoming forced.
Given how Season 3 ended, it looks like they already had in the back of their minds that Season 4 may be the end or why make the big reveals they did at the end of that last episode...

But I also am glad they're going out like this. This means it won't get abruptly cut at the end of season that probably ended in a cliffhanger and then they'll have to try to salvage something by doing a couple of extended eps, call it a mini-series to artificially wrap it all up to give all the fans some kind of closure. This way it all happens in an intended natural progression. Also you just can't keep this show going too much longer before it loses all credibilty. I mean how many times can the Galactica and it's fleet just barely escape the cylons before it gets utterly ridiculous? Either that or it gets tedious because you'll have to start having more episodes explaining how they're making more vipers to replace those being destroyed, more episodes on how they're managing to keep getting the necessary supplies like food and water, like I said not too engaging that. So yeah add my voice to the list of those that think they're doing the right thing here.
Sounds like a good business model to garner a blockbuster movie ... They make it home and repopulate Earth and discover the Cylons:
a) followed them
b) were already there
c) a & b, and the earth cylons are idolaters (worshipping pagan gods), which launches an un-holy war

Must point out that the Cylons are monotheists, so (C) might not be a plot element. But would be interesting to examine how the human colonists went from being monotheists to polytheists again (if you believe that the Galactica-era humans are our descendants instead of our ancestors).
