View Full Version : Un-responsive remote
Hello,
I have an HR20 that is 5 days old. Suddenly today, the remote stopped working on about 90% of functions. I can only input 1 channel number, then it freezes. So, any channel past 9, I cannot tune. I can start to rewind live tv, but then I can't get the play or pause button to work. It just keeps rewinding.
The only thing I can do to stop the rewinding is press the power button.
I think there is something wrong with the unit, because some functions work, plus I can control my TV and AV receiver fine with the remote.
Any ideas? Is this a common bug? What can I do to fix it?
thanks for your help
Try to re-boot the box.
If you have enough response try to do it through the menus.
The second option is the red button behind the door panel that holds your access card.
As a last resort, pull the power plug, wait about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.

Before you reset the box try pulling the batteries out of the remote first and put them back in. A installer told me to do that the other day and it worked.

You REALLY want to wait 5-10 min before plugging back in.
Well, its been many months and many upgrades, and still these problems. My trusty HD-TIVO works all of the time.

You know, my D11 had the same exact problem. It was the remote. Try using another remote with the unit to see if that works.
switch the receiver to rf mode. i had the same problem as you and switched it over to rf, not a problem since

Well, I unplugged it (for about 10 seconds) and it seemed to clear things up. Unfortunately, I did that before getting any responses here, and that was the first thing I did. Hopefully, I didn't do any damage!
Thanks for the advice for the future.
I have a similar problem. I usually have to hit the button 2-3 times before I get a response. I've switched to RF and changed the batteries and it still does it...amy tips?

Soft reset from the menus, if that doesn't work, change remotes.

I only have the remote they gave me. How can I switch when I only have one?
If anything the remote seems to work better when I point it away from the HR20 instead of directly at it.

I had the same problem with one of my boxes and did a menu reset and that fixed it.
