Hello, I have an old 4000 reciever the power intermittinly goes off and on. Does anyone have any idea's on what could cause this. I read somewhere that Dish would shoot down ECM's to disable hackers and it some times killed good subbed recievers. Dish blamed it on lighting and power surges. I canceled my 4 year sub and went to D* , because E* wanted too much for a refirb. unit. I know this is not the Buy & Sell fourm, just was curious what went wrong with it, might sell or trade if it has any value. Thanks in advance fo any info. :)
If you inadverntly hit by Dish, you would get the what the hackers call "America's Top1" just the remote help channel (101) and none others.
Sounds like an equipment problem really, IIRC the 400 had a pretty touchy power supply and it could be on its way out.
Sale value is actually pretty good, you should be able to get around $40-50 for it. The UHF remote module can be used in other IRDs, and the remote itself is worth somthing.
