I saw Survivor 1 and 2. Now I am seeing the new version.

Did the 4 team members (Erin, Penny, Jake and Ken) at Sook-Jai make a dumb move by voting off Robb instead of Shi-Ann?

The way I understood the survivor game is when the teams merge and its an equal 5 from both sides, and at next tribal council of 10 if the 5 former chuay gahn vote off Shi-Ann (assuming she wont win immunity), she'll get voted off considering she has the most number of past votes against her among the 10.

Until today, Robb had no past votes. The chuay gahn team would have to assume Shi-Ann had the most past votes against her but if they assumed correctly they could after this choose off person by person from the original sook-jai team.

Maybe...maybe...who knows? We haven't seen anything in the show that would indicate that anyone from C-G knows how any of the S-J tribal councils have gone, and who has any votes. Would it be a good assumption? Guess we'll see in the coming weeks!

Actually past votes didn't matter last season. In the event of a tie at tribal councel, everybody (not just those voted against) drew lots (or rocks). Person with the purple rock left the game.

I don't believe that's right - past votes were used as the first tiebreaker, and then the drawing of rocks was the second tiebreaker. At least that's the way I remember it - at the time I was pretty shocked that a tiebreaker would be left to chance.

He's correct.  As of Survivor 4 (Maybe even 3)  Past votes don't count.  They specifically changed the rule.  Whether or not they've added it back is yet to be determined. My guess is not.  The "purple rock" scenereo first came in to play during S4's final 4 TC.  Pascal, who had received no votes, drew the rock, and therefore left the game, after both sides refused to change their votes.

I stand corrected. Vecepia had immunity, and after 2 minutes to change their votes, Kathy, Neleeh and Paschal had to draw rocks. No mention of previous votes. Thanks Cory.
