I have a standalone Sony Tivo and am trying to use it with my Dish 301. Of course, I am using the IR control. The problem is that the Tivo will not change the stations of the 301. In the setup mode, I cycle through all of the choices the Tivo provides for IR codes and none of them do anything to the 301. The same channel just sits there. I don't know how to start troubleshooting this to know if it is a IR code issue, a bad emitter, or a bad IR control port. I just found an IR emitter at smarthome.com that has an indicator that lights up when it passes an IR command, so then I can tell if the TIVO's IR port is working. Any other ideas?

Do you have the IR pigtails coming out of the back of the TiVo and close to the IR reciever on the 301 (front glassy oval). My TiVo would not control my 4900 unless the Pigtail was in the right place. Also I had to set it up so that I was using "Medium Speed" to get the channels to change correctly most of the time. I believe the 301 and the 4900 use the same IR frequency I think I was using tivo code 10043 or something like that???

Towards the upper right side of the 301, there are 3 glassy areas side-by-side. I've got the IR emitter sitting right in front of that, with the lamp of the emitter very close to that glass area. I've gone through all the eligible TIVO codes, including the various speeds. I just get nothing at all. The 301 just sits there on the same channel.

Something could be faulty, pigtails, IR device on TiVo, etc?
