So my H20 stopped working and Direct TV came out and replaced it. When I got home, I looked at it and noticed right away it looked different. It was an H20 however (looked at model number) Does anyone know if they changed the look? (of the actual box)

Not only that, but the HD channels with this set top looked way washed out. My wife even noticed. It's connected the same way as before. (both video and audio). Add on that, when I display the channels that show on the top of the screen, they look diffrent.

I'm missing something,...just can't figure it out:nono2:

The H20-100 is a little bit smaller than the H20-600. Also, the power light LED is blue.

The output does look different between the H20-100 and H20-600. Everything is brighter on the H20-600.

Not everything is brighter on the -600. Take Paris Hilton for example. !rolling

Nice! Well yeah I do notice it not being is bright, but also washed out. I have read alot on the DTV forums that the 100 is actually a better box overall. I guess I got to just deal with it. (erg! but it just seems off damn it!)

I'm running the latest CE release on my 100, and it has corrected the difference in brightness. It should be national pretty soon, so you won't have to deal with it much longer.

Sounds like I should join the 'CE'rs for this weekend's CE download.
Thanks for this info, because I really didn't notice the lower brightness, but I now believe that it pertains to my H20-100 S/W 100c receiver. I've just recently replaced my Hughes HTL-HD with a H20-100 and was just happy it was working, I guess.

You should. The CE software is so much better than the 100C you're running right now. It's basically a whole new receiver.

Thanks for the info , welcome and prompt. Don't have to worry about a retired EE who reads everything related to D* HD and has always been too cautious in the eyes of my bosses in implementing new features!:)

That is totally sawweeet! So how soon will be the national release? I would be part of the cutting edge, but don't want the hassle honestly.

Don't know. Directv has not said but I would think soon.

They've been saying it'll be soon for a while now, but who knows. The first CE release was in March or April, and we still haven't seen an NR yet.
