i have noticed if i am watching any of my local ota channels.......if i rewind then ff to get back to live tv......the channel pixelates as if there are signal strength problems......but all readings in the 90's. i have tried this rewind then ff to live tv on all local ota's and the same thing happens everytime. i get picture breaksup every 15 seconds or so. to resolve the issue i just switch channels and then turn back to the ota channel and everything is just fine. anyone else seen this "glitch"?

Nope, it's a known and documented issue. The HR20 has trouble transitioning from buffered to live TV. Some have it worse than others. There are multiple threads discussing the issue.

Surprised your only seeing it on OTA. I see it on OTA MPEG2, SAT MPEG2 (HD and even SD sometimes), and MPEG4.
It seems to get better, then worse (for me) with the various sw revs. This gives me hope that it will be fixed for good in the near future.

Here is an older one. There are, however, others. Maybe some potential keywords will jump out from this thread.

thanks for the link. i hope they get the issue resolved. it really isnt a big deal since changing the channel fixes it.....however if u are relying on a buffer to rewind and watch tv it could be quite irritating............or if u record something on that channel after it starts the pixelating thing that could be very maddening lol.

well...i appreciate your help and the link. but that the posts in that link refer to if you are actually watching live tv or if it is buffered...something like that. i didnt see one post about rewinding then going back to live tv and seeing picture breakups while watching live tv. i did however see picture issues while rewinding and/or watching buffered tv but no picture breakups while watching live tv
I think you may be misreading the thread. One of the main thrusts of it is the behavior of the system when watching live, or watching buffered, and how the behavior changes when chasing and approaching "live". It mostly talks about the delay when switching out of live TV, but also discusses some of the other symptoms, such as pixellation when chasing live from very close behind, which is what I thought your OP was referring to.
I guess my point is, when you state in your OP:
"...if i rewind then ff to get back to live tv......the channel pixelates as if there are signal strength problems..."
that you are not actually getting back to live TV (except by changing the channel, then changing back). And, when chasing very close to live, there is known to be pixellation problems.
So, once you have gone into "buffered" mode, stay a few "jumpbacks" behind live, and you shouldn't see the problem. Or, change the channel to get back to truly live mode (therefore losing your buffer), and you shouldn't see the problem. Or wait for D* to get the problem fixed, and you shouldn't see the problem.

oh ok. see to get back to "live" after rewinding i normally just hold down the >l button for a few seconds. guess i'll just forward to a point close to the end but not at the end from now on then.

Yeah, I think you've got it now. Just as easy to get as far forward in the buffer as you can (which you now know isn't quite "live") and hit jumpback a couple of time, and your good to go.
Annoying problem, but an effective workaround.
