My R15 locked up, I pulled the power, waited 10 secs, now it's cycling through the "Your DirecTV is starting up", followed by the "Gather information" progress bar. Every time it gets to 40%, it shuts off, and starts over.

Anyone else see this?

Try pulling the power cord again and wait 15 minutes before you plug it back in.

Doing now.

Actually, it's the "Searching for satellite" progress bar, if anyone was wondering what I was talking about. about 10 more minutes and I'll give it another try.

Still doing. Hits 40% on the "searching for satellite signal", the reboots, and starts over.

FWIW, this started after one of my kids hit the "active" channel button. They really need to eliminate that crap - almost every time I end up on the active channel, the receiver stops working right.

Trying another 15 minute rest period.

No go - still rebooting itself over and over. Checked connections, everything looks good. The other R15 in my house is fine.

It's important that you pull the AC plug and not just hit the power button.

15 minutes without AC power should settle your receiver down.

I had this same issue with an R15 about 3 months ago. IIRC, mine rebooted at 40% also. I ended up having to format the hard drive to fix the problem. And I actually reformatted 2 or 3 times before it would work again. Smooth sailing ever since, though.

I've gone two cycles *with the ac plug pulled*. Still no go. Going to unplug it for an hour or so.

Koz - how did you do that?

Press the red button and then press the "record" button and the "down arrow" button simultaneously until the record light turns on. Should take about 10 seconds for that to happen. Please note that this erases all your recordings, series links, etc.

Might have to. I let it sit for about 2 or 3 hours. Still doing the same thing.

I might try disconnecting the 2 coax cables first. Can't hurt. I tried booting w/o the card in, didn't help.

Grrrrrrr.

There is no red button... the power button you mean?

Found it - the reset button. Did the steps, it took a minute, and came right back up (sans recorded programs and series records).

Sorry you had to lose your recordings, but glad it's working now. If it gives you more trouble in the next day or two, do it again. Otherwise, you should be home free. Like I said, since doing this, I've been trouble free for several months now.
