Although not quite as exciting as the launch, I will look forward to watching this. It is set to record! :)

Thanks, I'll set my timer. I don't think I'll drive up there for live coverage though. Although if they come in from the right direction I might hear the sonic boom.

Mission Control said opportunities at Kennedy, the primary landing site, look slightly more promising on Friday and Saturday. The shuttle could land at Kennedy on Friday at 2:16 p.m. and 3:52 p.m. EDT.

On Friday, NASA also could consider using a backup landing site in California on two chances. NASA bumped up by 1 1/2 hours the first chance in California to 3:50 p.m. EDT to avoid expected high winds. The second opportunity was for 6:56 p.m. EDT but that might change.

Ah, that's why I didn't hear a sonic boom today. :D

From NASA:

"Our mindset down here is we're going to land you somewhere safely today," Mission Control told the shuttle crew Friday morning.

The first landing attempt at California's Edwards Air Force Base, the shuttle's usual backup landing site, would be at 3:49 p.m. EDT. If the weather cleared up over Florida before then, NASA could instead try bringing the shuttle into Kennedy at 3:55 p.m. EDT.

"We're going to take a hard look at (Kennedy) at the next rev ... and we'll also be looking at Edwards," Mission Control told Atlantis' astronauts.

Well they made it down safely...too bad for us, on the wrong coast, thus
no H/D coverage, except for the mindless blanter from the host. The NASA
feed was of course in S/D, which HDNet used.
