WASHINGTON, Oct 28 (Reuters) - EchoStar Communications Corp. (nasdaq: DISH - news - people), hoping to rescue its $16.2 billion bid for rival satellite television provider Hughes Electronics (nyse: DISH - news - people), has worked out a deal in which Cablevision Systems Corp. (nyse: DISH - news - people) would buy some EchoStar assets, the Washington Post reported on Monday.
The paper, citing sources familiar with the proposal, said that under the deal Cablevision would purchase some of EchoStar's spectrum space and satellite capacity, essentially creating a new competitor.
