I may be the only one who records this, but I love the TLC show "The Real Deal" and have a series link setup for it on the HR20. For some reason after the first few shows, TLC changed the name of the show to "The Real Estate Pros". I didn't even know they'd done that as I was out of town for a couple of weeks. When I got back, I happily discovered that the HR20 kept recording the series even through the name change! I have future episodes in my ToDo list.

I guess I never really contemplated how DVRs figure out which show is which, but there must be some hidden guide data like a key or serial number. I suppose one can't assume that 2 shows won't have the same name. Does anyone know for sure?

The guide data contains a "series ID" number. (And then an "episode ID" number).

I knew that the TiVo based DVR's used these numbers to identify series' and episodes, apparently the HR20 does also.

Another example of this: I have a SP (on my HR10) for "World's Wildest Police Videos". Occasionally, they call an episode something like, "World's Scariest Police Chases" or somesuch.

The SP gets all of them correctly.

Too funny - I record that show as well (mostly for Ginger !). Seriously - it is a very good show if you're into real estate and remodelling.

I noticed that my HD TiVo handled it perfectly and I'm Glad to see the HR20 dealt with this OK as well since I'll be changing to the HR20 this summer.

Speaking of that, is there any way on the HR20 to view the extended guide information (series ID, original air date, etc?). I like being able to view the original air date on the HR10-250.

I also record that show on the HR20 and noticed the same thing you did. I was surprised as well.

In this great big world of ours, you are never alone. There is always someone watching the same stuff you are. :)

I know this is getting off-topic of the HR20, but does anyone else watching this show hate Richard's brother? And for anyone who saw the episode with George the IT guy. Can you believe that moron lasted through the episode? That guy was useless!!
