View Full Version : Failure to install
Well, I took the day off from work today for DirecTV to come do the install. Guy shows up and his work order is for the receiver only. No dish on the work order, so he won't install a dish. I ask isn't that kind of pointless and he agrees. I ask if he can't just call someone and he says no.
So, the guy is gone now. I took the day off from work for nothing. I'm really pissed off right now. I'm seriously thinking about just switching to Comcast out of spite.
I called DirecTV and they apologized and said they would look into it and call me back sometime in the future.

There have been a few members that have reported this over the last week. I would call them back and tell them you want it done today or you are going to leave. You took the day off of work and you want it done.

I'm doing this now. I told the guy I wanted it installed today or I'm switching to Comcast. I'm currently on hold while the guy looks into something or something. I'm sure when he comes back, I won't hear what I want to.
The guy came back and said they would call on Monday to reschedule. I'm on the phone now with Comcast. $40/month for full digital package and DVR for 12 months.
Just got off the phone and Comcast is coming Sunday. I had actually been thinking about switching back to cable anyway. I haven't had it since 2000 and am interested in trying On Demand and such. If I hate it in 12 months, I'll switch back to DirecTV.

I would try calling one more time and ask for a supervisor and tell them it is not your fault and you want it taken care of like you were told it would be. Also Directv will have VOD very soon.

I tried one more time. They offered me $200 credit and $10/month for a year. I'm getting it installed next week Saturday. So, I at least don't have to take more time off from work.
Now I just have to call Comcast back and cancel them coming to install cable on Sunday.

I am glad to hear it worked out for you and I did not really want to see you have to deal with Comcast. I had them for years and it sucked bad.
Comcast was also here this morning to install the phoneline. I needed it for the DirecTV install. I guess it would have been a waste to get a land line installed for DirecTV install if I was just going to switch to cable. :)
One thing, I'm having my DirecTV HD TiVo call in for the first time in over 500 days. :D
