I have an Archos portable video recorder/player and they have the ability (so they say) to control DirecTV units to tell them to turn on, change to a channel and then record the program and turning the receiver off when it's done. However, I've tried every code they provided such as Humax and Philips on all of my different units with no success (codes for my vcr and an old dish receiver work, though). Wandering around the web, I've seen that people have had success with their Tivo versions of the receivers but not others. So I contacted Archos and they say that they use the codes the manufacturers give them and if I can get the codes they can add them to their firmware.

I called DirecTV and they didnt even understand the question. So, I have a couple of questions:

1. Has anyone tried to use the Archos DVR Station with a DirecTV branded receiver with any success.
2. Does anyone know what IR codes the receivers use (which I believe are the same for the DirecTV branded receivers) or where I can find them?

I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me - I've been going around for months with this.

DirecTV refers to the codes as 00001, 00002, and 00003. 00001 is the primary code for the R15, D11, HR20, etc. 00002 is the secondary (AV1) code that can be set on the D11 and R15. 00003 is the secondary code that can be set on the HR20.

I know the following "universal" equivalents for the first two: S1377 and S1378. Perhaps you can work from those codes to get to where you want.

There is a truly brilliant remote person, Tivoburkee aka Edmund. If you post in the right forums he'll probably pick up on it and help out.

Carl - Thanks for quick reply and help. I'll give the S codes a try and see if that makes sense with Archos support people.
