First off, I want to thank whoever it was for the great review of the 721. Wow.
I went out and replaced my Tivo with it. I have to say, as much as I love my Tivo, I didn't realize how muc picture quality I was losing with it. If Tivo wasn't so cool, it would almost be defeating the purpose of having a Satellite system if you use a standalone Tivo.
Anyway, to my question. I have barely visible horizontal lines slowly running up my screen. Probably 2 at a time. The tech lady at Dish insisted that it had to be the cables. It isn't. Not only were there no lines with my older receiver, but I tested the S Video cable I was using with my Tivo and there are still lines. The cables from my home theater receiver to the TV are fine since the DVD picture is excellent.
Anyone run into this?

Thanks,

Tal

Welcome to DBSTalk, Halfsek! :hi:

Sounds to me like you're getting interference from somewhere. Can you plug your 721 into a different electrical outlet? That'd be the first thing I'd try. Then, if you have a powered switch, try plugging that into a different outlet (you'll probably have to do a check switch on your receivers again if you do this). If you are running your coax in from the dish or switch through a surge protector, try bypassing the surge protector and running the line directly to the receiver. That's what I'd try first.

I think it may have worked itself out.. weird. The lines are so light that you can't even see them with certain color backgrounds.
If I see them tonight I'll try your suggestions.

Thanks,

Tal

I had a similar issue on a Toshiba TV when I plugged in both the composite (RCA-type) video cable AND the S-Video cable. When I connected only the S-Video cable, the problem went away.

This almost sounds or looks like 60 cycle hum bars. Typically you get one or two moving horizontal bars going through the video source, usually it means that the video cable is running over or too close to AC power. Try and keep power far away from any video or audio cables..
