Are the default remote control settings for the H20 and HR20 the same codes? If I had an H20 and HR20 in the same room, would I have to switch one to AV1 or AV2?

As I remember, when in IR they would both turn on. Changing to RF stopped it.

Yes you would have to setup one of the recievers as AV1 or 2. I had to do it a few weeks ago cause I was controlling both with the same remote.

Thanks. If I wind up with an H20, I will have to see if my remote can handle the diffferent codes.
Do you know which code number you entered. There are 30 (which is silly to me, why not have which one actually works for the unit).

A much sillier answer is to read the setup screen in the receiver for programing the remote.
I've never read the manual as the "TV" shows me what I need to have it work. :D

I followed the instructions in this thread. http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=66522

Huh? I don't understand what you are saying.
If the HR20 works with a code, tell the user what it is.

I have both in the same cabinet. There are two methods you can use. Method one is switch the HR20 to RF mode and use two remotes, one for each receiver. Method 2 which is what I ended up doing so I could use one remote (harmony 880) is to program the HR20 to code 00003 and set it to A/V 2.

Trying to use one remote and it is not RF capable. I have yet to find a remote that matches what I want, so I am trying to stick to it.
I will try that code on it with my HR20 and see if it works.

D* remotes that are RF:
RC 24
RC 34
RC 32RF
If you have one of these, I set one to RF on the DTV slider and the other using the AV1 or AV2 slider position. The "code" for each receiver is displayed on the setup screen for the remote.
I believe it can be done with the IR mode too.
If you do not have an rf capable remote, you can still set your remote to control the HR20 when in the "dtv" position, and the H20 when in the "AV1" position. Both will be IR, but will use different IR codes.
To do this, follow the on-screen instructions for remote setup on your H20. It should pretty well walk you through the process.

A slightly different question, but since we are on remotes. Is it possible to set up the RC 34 to control a dish box also? I have direct and dish and it just occured to me to try that.
Sorry if i should have posted this somewhere else

Nope. the RC 34 isn't a universal remote. It has codes for many TVs and A/V receivers, but it will not control any DVR's or STB besides D*'s.
