I have a 2700 receiver but no card. Would dish network mail me a card if I start a subscription (a la DirecTV)? How much will the card cost me?

I don't think so, but you could always call and ask. Unlike directv receivers though, Dishnet receivers are 'married' to the cards and vice-versa. Who knows maybe they can program the new card with your existing receivers info though.

I think DISH still charges $100 for their smart cards, just buy a new Pro 301 for $99 and junk the 2700.

really-the 2700 is kinda a low end receiver anyway....

A new card can easily be married to any rcvr. Last I heard DISH sold them for $49.

Very true but that receiver must cost much less than that card IMO...
